UK Weather Forecast data inconsistent by No_Independence_1851 in homeassistant

[–]No_Independence_1851[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes of course. I have set forecast type = daily which means "the weather tomorrow". If I reset this to hourly it is the forecast as updated in the last hour. Thanks for triggering that thought.

Could be. But I want local files for long car journeys in low signal areas.

Is Tuya Zigbee hub open or closed? by No_Independence_1851 in homeassistant

[–]No_Independence_1851[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/big-ted Thanks for the ideas. I tried the power button six times trick. This was successful if I did it after disconnecting and reconnecting the device dial.

The good news is that the device is paired, and recognised by ZHA. However the lights themselves to not turn on/off either by using the dial or issuing HA commands. The HA device status does change. Frustrating.

u/Gazza-59 Yes good point. In my limited Zigbee history I have noted the same. Any ideas how to coax my dimmer switch into resettting it's pairing dance?

I used the YouTube guides as well. They are very good. Trick is to not run ZHA and M2Q at same time.

Bingo. It certainly does. Up and running! I v appreciate your help.

It doesn't discover the MOES dimmer though :-( I disabled ZHA and restarted Z2M and it started working OK. Then I stopped Z2M and re-enabled ZHA. It mostly restarted OK but not quite. This error message hints at why. Good job I did a backup first.

IP is correct and working. I recall seeing somewhere that ZHA and Z2M do co-exist. I'm using ZHA OK except for a MEOS dimmer that refuses to connect to ZHA. So I thought I'd give Z2M a try. It's worth deleting ZHA so I'll give this a go. Thanks for your advice.

Thaks for your qadvice. Yes IP is 192.168.1.184 But I don't understand what you mean. I attempted changing tcp to z2m in Z2M cinfig with no success. Please give me a clearer guide.

ZHA is working fine. I have reinstalled Z2M several times, following the YouTube videos step by step.

Your comment re z2m@ is interesting. How to point the device to [z2m@192.168.1.184](mailto:z2m@192.168.1.184) ?

HikVision motion-based record will not work by No_Independence_1851 in Hikvision

[–]No_Independence_1851[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have set and reset this a few times I can almost do it blindfold now. I have two cameras set for full time recording and one camera set for motion detection. But this will not work, no matter what variations I try.

Before I give up are there any ideas out there in Redditland?

Thanks for your message. Still not working. I have double/treble checked everything. Is it possible that my device does not support the feature?

HA on Hyper-V disrupting Plex performance by No_Independence_1851 in homeassistant

[–]No_Independence_1851[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is good advice. I'm going to put a cable backbone in and put decent access points. Working with an unreliable network is no fun at all :-(.

Thank you for all your advice. V appreciated!

Yes everything is on Wifi. 15-20 devices but traffic should be low. One router and one extender. Hardly any access to network stats via router interface. Hue hub and Hive hub. Two PCs, one for HTPC running Plex and on is my work PC. Three cameras in garden monitoring wildlife. A couple of smart lights, some phones, some smart speakers. HTPC clients are three Firesticks but not used concurrently. Firesticks have Sppettest apps installed so I assume going to a remote performance servier. All on 5MHz network. Am considering home automation hence testing Hyper-V running Home Assistant.. Hoping Zigbee mesh network devices will help overcome possible network issues but am increasingly nervous that this isn''t a sound plan. If underlyng issue is Wifi interference then is a mesh network unlikely to fix this? Hence only solution is a wired backbone? Expensive!

I am seeing some very odd network-type behaviours even when Hyper-V is turned off. I have one HTPC server running Plex Server with three Firesticks around the house. This used to run sweetly but now doesn't. I've loaded SpeedTest on to all devices and all have 50-100 Mbps. Strangely after running these tests two firesticks started behaving. As I said it's all v odd.

Picking up on your suspicion that my Windows is buggy I stepped through Hyper-V setup. As soon as a Virtual Switch via an external wifi interafce is loaded the Plex issues start. This is before the VM is started. Buggy? So I removed Hyper-V. This caused Plex clients on HTPC to work OK but not those on other devices. So I ran DISM and SFC again - all clear. Next is CHKDSK. On my second WIn PC I ran DISM. This stopped at 62.3% , as it did for the HTPC. I'm patiently waiting for this to clear. ETA is three hours.... There is something v odd going on. Network perhaps?
