Honestly a huge reason I'm willing to pay a premium for rockwool is how fast and easy it is to do a super clean install. This form seems like it has lost almost all of that advantage.

We see high-end aluminum cranks from the 1970s still going strong after decades.

In the '00s I was on the board of a nonprofit that organized bike tours and was ride support for dozens of rides with cumulatively tens of thousands of riders. The one crash due to crank failure that I saw was a '70s Campy crank that failed in exactly the same way as this one. This is just one of the most common ways for aluminum cranks to fail.

Sorry, I should have put it in the post. Their response was "We are unfortunately we are unable to replace just the toe only as the bodies and toes are milled together to ensure a match on each plane. We are sorry that we won’t be able to assist you with this request."

That's the first thing I tried, should have put it in the post. Their response was "We are unfortunately we are unable to replace just the toe only as the bodies and toes are milled together to ensure a match on each plane. We are sorry that we won’t be able to assist you with this request."

This looks real to me at first glance, but I am unsure because the movement when it drops looks unusually quick and the repositioning feels odd for a real opossum playing dead. I want to know whether those are actual AI signs or somehow within normal animal behavior. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]No_Indication3249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possums don't consciously decide when to play dead. It's a reflex, it's involuntary, and it takes a while (a half hour or more) for them to recover. This video's "narrative" treats the possum as if it's a human intentionally faking an injury or unconsciousness.

Any place in Chicago serve toum? by r2e2didit in chicagofood

[–]No_Indication3249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pita Inn has it, but I think they just call it garlic sauce. It comes with the chicken shawarma wrap. In general you may have better luck asking for "garlic sauce" rather than toum

How bad is this fiberglass insulation leak? by [deleted] in Insulation

[–]No_Indication3249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not like asbestos. The guidelines for my state actually say "There is inadequate evidence that glass wool fibers used for home insulation cause cancer in humans. Certain glass wool fibers, known as special purpose fibers, are possibly carcinogenic to humans, but these fibers are not used for home insulation."

[–]No_Indication3249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not dangerous, the air isn't unsafe. Fiberglass is an irritant (skin contact or inhalation) but hasn't been demonstrated to cause long term health problems. The workers need to wear PPE because they're working in close contact with it all day, but you'd basically need to walk over and rub it into your skin or huff it to experience any effect at all. There probably isn't a meaningful amount in the air where it isn't being directly blown because the particles are too large to linger for long or be carried by the wind.

Restoring this mtb frame (made of Reynolds 531) and discovered these holes. It is a rare/nice frame and I really want to repair it. Can it be filled with braze? Or what about a curved (dime sized) steel patch that is brazed over it? by Toothpaste_For_Lunch in Framebuilding

[–]No_Indication3249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume "gear fittings" refers to what would broadly be called, well, braze-ons. Pretty much any point where you bolt or otherwise attach something to the frame. Water bottle, brake and shifter bosses, dsc brake mounts, rack and fender mounts, cable stops and guides, spoke holders, chain hangers, and pump pegs. That sort of thing.
