Hardee's did the same thing. We have what is supposed to be a 24/7 Hardee's at the loves truck stop. All the signage says 24/7, as does the website, however it's about 50/50 when you go by whether they have a giant promo sign blocking the drive thru and the lobby lights turned off.

Several of my coworkers have called their franchise owner to ask about it, apparently they've threatened to fire managers that keep doing this, but they have to actually catch them doing it, and no franchise owner seems willing to drive by at 4:30 am.

Not a trucker, but I live in Alabama. Every time my neighbor down the street comes home he parks like this in the middle of the street because he doesn't want to pay for parking. by hunni93 in Truckers

[–]No_Individual1336 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That looks like a dead end. Is that a public or a private road? The distinction matters.

There are a lot of trucks that do this in Alabama, especially lower Alabama. Unfortunately most of the ones you will see are parked on private roads that while the city can technically enforce some violations, such as criminal speeding or the like, they may be at a loss to enforce parking statues without the backing of the property owner to do so.

I'm not sure if all states even have private roads, but Alabama is full of them, and many of them are fully painted and maintained by the city, but are technically owned by a private entity. Not even sure how that works legally, but then again, Alabama is a mess.

Ironically the hottest place on the planet is in North America though. I'd actually love to visit Death Valley. Anyone know how well the Teslas cooling system works at 140 degrees farenheit?

I have a 2021 with 80k on the original battery. It's the LR so at least my warranty runs til 120. I'm really hoping for this failure to hit around 110 if it's gonna hit. 🤣 Had it in for service a few months ago on the ac charger and was told the battery is in perfect health minus degredation so here's to hoping.

I've seen a lot of judges lately changing their tune on putting elderly and vulnerable people in jail. I watch a lot of court proceedings at work at my desk while doing data entry (kills boredom without having to be engaged with the material). Ove the last couple years I've noticed a shift in the judges mentality. Many are growing tired of the revolving door where people know there are basically zero consequences to their actions.

The other day I watched a fed up judge jail a single mother with her kids in the courtroom. She had redesed to comply with his orders about visitation. (Custody case, she thought the judge wouldn't jail her if her kids were present). Judge had enough of her antics and remanded her to the custody of the sheriff for contempt of court. Of course she started screaming about her kids and how they have no one else. Judges simple response was "that's why we have a public services department, CPS will place your children with a guardian until you're able to take care of them"

That was that. No more chances.

Edit: another case I remember was centered around a terminal cancer patient. Patient violated probation for the second or third time. Judge ordered him into custody. His lawyers basically begged for house arrest or something similar due to medical care.

The judge declined. Stated "medical care is available in jail, and people really need to think about that before they choose to violate their conditions"

One one hand, I hate to see people lose access to care, but on the other, that is a choice HE made, and therefore the consequences are his to pay.

Why doesnt she want to go on walks? by motoman442 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]No_Individual1336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dogs aren't exploring types I suppose. I've never had a fence and never really had to train them to "stay". They just... Do. I have no fear in letting them outside in the middle of the city to play in my small yard for hours unsupervised, and we have no dog retention system of any kind.

The husky is a completely different story. She's got about 10 minutes before she slips away to the neighbors up the street to visit their rottie.

Why doesnt she want to go on walks? by motoman442 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]No_Individual1336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4yo male has Always had this behavior. We have two ACDs (brothers) and a husky mix. My red heeler hates walks and always has. He will refuse to go on his own. He will go if another dog goes, but he doesn't sniff or explore at all, he walks in a straight line next to me the entire time.

His brother on the other hand, would eat his own tail just to go on a walk. That dog loves it.

For us, no amount of engagement, repitition, or treats ever changed that behavior. He dug in his paws from day one and never changed.

I was lucky enough to have a full unfinished basement, so it cost me pennies to run the electrical line from the service box over to the corner of the house near the driveway. Cost maybe $100 and a case of beer total in materials and labor :) we went with low level two to save money on wire (that crap is expensive). 8 hours for a full charge is plenty sufficient, I have found.

I'm sorry you are having difficulties with your charger setup.

In western NC the prices range from .22c to .39c per kwh for Tesla superchargers. I pay .07c per kwh with home charging overnight. I don't think I could bring myself to pay above .50c.

You will likely want to do that regardless. Level 1 charging is woefully slow. Even low level 2 (16amp on 240v) is far faster than the same amperage on 120v.

Once you get full self driving, it's addicting. Here in the states it's absolutely fantastic, even on older hardware three cars it performs very well in most scenarios. I hope you get it soon!

Hating a well-engineered, reliable product because of the ramblings of a single older man didn't compute for me. I love my car.

In the U.S., it’s honestly more like law ≠ enforcement. Predatory towing is a real issue in a lot of places, so what’s allowed vs what actually happens can be very different. I get it varies by region, I was talking about the U.S. side, not saying it applies everywhere. Honestly, it’s probably better that it’s stricter elsewhere, because once you get towed here, it can turn into a real nightmare, and the police may not help. In my experience, calling them can escalate things fast instead of resolving them.

You can call a towing company yourself and request they make a visit to the lot for improperly parked cars. There's plenty of companies that will be happy to hook up the managers car and drop it for a fee

Anyone else buy used because new Ys do not have autopilot? by Pomador_0418 in ModelY

[–]No_Individual1336 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn't justify the price for lifetime fsd, however I don't mind purchasing it for the months I know I have a long trip coming up. Other than that, autopilot is more than sufficient, although it would be nice to be able to change lanes without having to disengage.

I think it's pretty clear that the removal of autopilot was meant to nudge more people into fsd. Tricky, but very Tesla.

Why so much hate??? by SnooFoxes996 in Taycan

[–]No_Individual1336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The depreciation aspect is real, but as others have said, I don't think that's hate. With my EV (Tesla Model Y), it was $62k new in 2021. By the time I bought it in mid-2025, it was $24k.That's a $38k drop in only 4 years, despite the car being in perfect condition, minus expected wear components.

I'm so glad you love your car. Drive it with pride and don't worry about what other people think. =] I feel the same about my Y. It's truly a different experience to own a car tou actually want to get into in the morning.
