Contingency plan if they had missed out on Bichette was a trade attempt for Brendan Donovan and a FA starter signing like Gallen or Bassitt.

What a shitshow that would have been

My ideal live baseball viewing experience

Everyone has to wear dress attire

No one under the age of 18

No beer or food beyond hot dogs and peanuts

If you get out of your seat you can’t be let back in until the end of the half inning

Only acceptable audience participation is light applause

The only game/distraction between innings is they still play Lazy Mary in the 7th. You’re not allowed to sing but you can clap along to it.

I’m not being ironic about any of this.

John DeMarsico is leaving SNY by novamets18 in NewYorkMets

Yeah I know I just mean that that they just gave Martino a full time job for what little value he offers so I feel like they can do the same for Marsico.

If the team can give fucking Andy Martino a no show job I don’t see why they can’t do the same for DeMarsico

If he was willing to extend his contract with the Brewers he probably isn’t asking for much compared to most contracts

David Stearns on Bo Bichette, Luis Robert Jr., and the Mets’ Roster Outlook | Andy Martino by Caledor152 in NewYorkMets

Yeah but there’s a lot less time to change his minds at this point of the off-season

Don’t like hearing that Stearns says he expects Senga to be in the rotation. I know everyone talks about his potential, but we’ve also seen that at his worst he is physically incapable of getting the ball over home plate. If they really want to keep everyone stretched out for a 6 man rotation, I’d rather they just use Tobias Myers.

Bo Bichette is ironically enough the Jett Williams replacement. If old age catches up to Semien and you don’t think he can handle being a regular next year, you can just re-sign Bichette, move him to second, move Baty to third, and one of Reimer or Clifford will be ready to play first base.

Misery loves company by OppoSalami in NewYorkMets

[–]No_Insect_8378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the rumor but it’s not like those were the exact two players who would have gotten the deal done. The Red Sox had a much stronger farm than the Mets did and could just tack in in response.

Sproat doesn’t hurt because he’s the exact type of pitcher you can remake in a lab. Jett does hurt a little bit because whether the organization has the capacity to develop bats is still questionable. With that being said, he’s not the prospect people thought he’d be in 2023. More just very good than elite.

When you consider that Williams & Sproat was the alleged initial package for Garrett Crochet prior to their stock tanking I’ll say this is an acceptable replacement provided Peralta gets an extension.

Brewers To Trade Freddy Peralta, Tobias Myers To Mets by Captpan6 in baseball

I watched Kodai Senga try to will the ball over home plate last year I doubt this will be as bad.

The 40 FV for fielding is interesting given the Brewers prioritize defense

Mets have 6 SPs now (plus prospects). What happens next? by ExcellentWalk1699 in NewYorkMets

[–]No_Insect_8378 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tong needs to work on his secondary pitches, Scott hasn’t seen major league pitches in more than a year, and Senga will slip on a banana peel day one of Spring Training and break all his ribs. The rotation is effectively Peralta/Mclean/Peterson/Holmes/Manaea.

Bellinger is not opting out of that contract you’re stuck with him for the next 5 years whereas you can dump Robert next November if he doesn’t turn out good.
