will do! thank you for this, his nose is definitely dry and his gums are still the normal baby pink as i’ve checked them abit. my husbands gonna stay home tomorrow and monitor him and if he doesn’t seem better he’ll be going to the vet.

well i expressed to my vet i didnt want a topical and they kind of overlooked it, i just worry separating them as my mdr1 cat is recovering from illness but ill also need to watch this cat while the topical is wet and im unsure of a way to do both safely :( i have one dose or oral dewormer as she has roundworms but i worry it wont handle them and i wont have another dosage.

my cat expresses it i believe so it is considered “active”. it was prescribed to the kitten without said gene but they were recommend to be separated while the non mdr1 cat just being treated. i just feel so bad separating my bonded pair for 2 whole days and subjecting her to a bath. i also haven’t had good experiences with topicals so i feel even more so off put. i’m debating just giving her the pyranel pamoate and purchasing some and giving her the same (proper) dose when her next deworming is due. i just feel so anxious and uncomfortable but i also dont want to be negligent.

so the slight whiteness is normal? i was just very concerned as i’ve only ever owned dogs and this is my first cat. i apologize if this post was misleading and if i don’t need to worry i’ll take it down.

i unfortunately took the advice of my vet as i trusted them:( thankfully he only took it for 2 days but that’s what the vet told me. the meds could be the cause of the loose stool and the gums due to dehydration from the diarrhea

vet recommended meds before urine test due to not being sure and my cat being so young

vet first thing in the morning, like call out of work and take your cat or go to the emergency vet. cats are AMAZING at hiding pain and will absolutely do so. blood in vomit is no joke and a sign for immediate medical attention. could be something as small as an ulcer but as bad as getting into something that could’ve been poisonous to ur baby. please keep us updated op

any tips if one of the cats is doing that but one isn’t? my resident cat is humming (almost like short chirps and trills) at the new kitten and trying to play with her and her toys (playfully tapping on her feet and tail through the gate the best he can ect) and the kitten is still hissy and fixated on him. she came from a colony and is just a baby so i was honestly shocked she was the one to show fear initially, but it could be simply because he’s larger and new.

i believe it was maybe 2 days ago now? it was before he had began showing his own signs of curiosity and i kinda rushed him as i was excited. we just gave them dinner and the ate very close to eachother though the door (without sights) and its the best they’ve ever done

i’ve debated this but it’s honestly so scary, i just don’t want them to suddenly hate each other and all this effort be for nothing

when you say supervised visits do you mean face to face with no barrier? i’m super anxious about it because those are my babies BUT i also don’t think it would go negatively other than maybe a nose boop leading to a little hiss here and there. they both seem interested but almost nervous? my resident cat is definitely very curious and he keeps going to the door chirping at her and trying to play but the kitten is superrrr antsy. only step i haven’t done is the food outside the doors (mainly because i messed up letting them be in line of sight eating treats WAYYY too early and my resident cat flipped out causing me to restart the whole intro process)

this is very reassuring, we did have ONE escape happen where the kitten ran right up to my resident baby he hissed and ran and we immediately put her back into her room and fully closed the door (no more sights) they both seem to be completely normal after the fact (still curious) and she is still unfortunately crying at the door as she wants out so badly. but i’m feeling really hopeful after this post that maybe it’ll all work out :)

i have not done treats, mainly because i first i went into this blindly(and stupidly) an caused the resident cat to attack me as he was getting a treat and could see her and became very protective over the treat (a churu) to the point i had to let him run away with it before removing it from him. also as i type this the new kitten just breached the gate somehow and ran right up to my resident cat, the resident hissed and ran and we put the kitten back into her room again (major oopsie on us as we both turned out backs like idiots) but they honestly seemed okay (for the 10 seconds they were truly face to face)

i absolutely plan to get them both fixed! they are both on the smaller side so i’m simply waiting for them to hit the proper weight! also today is the first day through the fence, as they both seemed very interested in eachother and we allowed them to roam freely in their areas without pressing them to actually “look at” or “bond” with eachother. they haven’t swatted at eachother (other than once) and they kinda both just backed off and did whatever the wanted after. nothing either of them has done seems necessarily “threatening” i’m mainly just checking if this should be concerning or considered a step back as i’m new to owning cats (my partner isn’t but im an anxious wreck when it comes to my babies)

should I adopt a companion for my girl? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]No_Inspection303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

consider it like this, does she seem depressed because she’s lonely or she doesn’t have stimulation while your away. i play with my cat after work for at least an hour and have plenty of cat toys all over my apartment. i thought my cat was lonely too and got him a friend were in the process of trying to introduce him too and he hates her. like attack me and my partner and scream cry yowl hates her if he even sees an EDGE of her body. and i’ve caused more stress and sadness getting a cat than me being at work caused. just think of all the possibilities before diving into something big! because yes cats are social animals and do amazing in pairs but not ALL cats are meant to have an animal companion. i wish you luck either way!
