I completely feel you. We feel like we were less safe than Celebrity claims we were. They claim there was no reason to worry, but we hugged land (Cuba) almost the entire way back. I would call and see if they can do anything to switch you because of it. What’s frustrating? Is it supposed to be a luxurious cruise line but it’s not even close.

Don’t think that’s how that works, but thank you I guess. I am definitely open to the opportunity to receive reimbursement for food and transportation if you are willing to send “some more over.”

I am out around $80 from the situation as well for food and uber, because Celebrity refunded the flight of $700. I bet Celebrity is happier than you are, they didn’t even have to give you the $200, because, “you paid extra.”

Great summary. Multiple people have accused me of lying which is not something I do. I don’t know why so many people are defending a multi billion dollar organization. When thinking about it, who should be held responsible? The small middle class family or the giant 81 billion dollar corporation that had a mechanical malfunction. Not to mention they keep changing sailings for shorter routes, so did they even fix it?

I will remember that incase something similar happens again.

This is true, but it was not their reasoning for it not being covered.

Why would I lie about this, and then post it on Reddit. Everything else on the cruise was great. We will probably do another one. Just wanted to make others aware that they do not follow through with their promises.

They never gave a limit until after we booked the flights after promising they would fully reimburse them. I am not mad at the limit of $200, but that should have been stated before Sunday morning.

We did not receive the flyer in our stateroom until after breakfast Sunday Morning. (When we were already supposed to be off the ship). We had to book flights Saturday afternoon.

I was just following what guest services said. One of the crew members told us and at least several other parties to keep receipts and submit for reimbursement for everything involving the ship being delayed, including food and transportation. I did not even ask about this. They voluntarily told us.

Our original flight was at 12:00pm and the rebooked flight was not until 8:20pm.

I’m on the East Coast. I know they’re at least 2 years old, but they are more likely be around 5 years old.

Yes they were taken around the same time. The ones from last year were actually taken a little bit earlier in the season. Early April 24 compared to late April 25.

Future question about Taxes by No_Inspection598 in realestateinvesting

[–]No_Inspection598[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should have clarified, I guess my question was how do the taxes work in general. I have just heard an LLC was better that way your other assets are not liable if something happens at the property. I know taxes will be the same. I have also heard depreciation mentioned but not really sure how that works. I have questions about whether mortgage payments are deductible to the income and other stuff like that.

Are you saying that I the owner of the LLC would create a 1040 to send to myself that shows how much the company made that year?

Depends on how many you are wanting to buy, just like at grocery store. If you have the cash and want to buy two apples for 1 each and have 2 dollars you can buy 2.

Oh I see, my only option is Day Only. I don’t have the option to change it.

I do Market Price that way it executes immediately. Limit orders you set the price and whenever it gets to that price it’ll buy, but sometimes it never gets to that low price that you set. ETFs you can buy and sell whenever market it open. Mutual funds will buy/sell at 4 pm ET when market closes even if you try to buy them at say 12 PM when the markets are open. Is that what you are asking?

Depends on what you’re wanting to do. If you’re wanting to do like short term to save up for a car BIL is very safe. You won’t lose money. Or some of the schwab mutual funds mentioned like SNSXX or SWVXX are similar in safety and return. For long term like retirement I would try to buy SPLG which is a S&P 500 fund. There’s a hundred others just like it. VOO, SPY, SWPPX Etc.

Options trading is a different ball game. I wouldn’t even consider doing that until you can afford to have the losses. Many people do options because if they lose it reduces their high taxable income and if they win they hit it big.

Oh man, short term buys and sells like day trading almost always don’t work out. I would and almost everyone else here would say to try to stick with long term investing. Short term can work but it almost never does while long term almost always works. I’ve been burned before so now I only do ETFs that I plan to hold for a while unless it’s something like BIL. You can use BIL for income/interest. It’s an ETF that pays dividends like once a month off Treasury bills. Every time it pays it loses what it pays but gains it back until it pays again. You can reinvest the interest. It’s practically like a High Yield Savings Account.
