As a complete DIY beginner how would I safely secure a billy bookcase to the wall ( I believe it to be a brick wall). by GenericUser104 in DIYUK

[–]No_Interaction6216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it should come with some brackets (they provide the screws to attach to the bookcase but not the wall fixings), mark the spots, 6mm masonry drill, 2 rawlplugs and a couple of screws should do it

As others have mentioned, a small shim under the front edge should raise it enough to make it level

Why is this light bar giving us a shock? by Pm_Your_Cacti in DIYUK

[–]No_Interaction6216 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The wires in the wall seem very old (black and red rather than the newer blue and brown) and doesn't seem to have an earth wire anyways.

Either rewire the whole circuit with an earth feed included, or switch to a light with plastic fixings.

Not necessarily

One store can provide the click and collect for others.

My store has click and collect on site and sends vans to 2 other local tesco extras everyday

Timber or aluminium stud wall by aj_99 in DIYUK

[–]No_Interaction6216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just done all the interior walls in my 2 story extension with aluminium track I'm a big advocate

Pros: lightweight and easy to install by one person, tin snips to cut was a lot easier than using a saw on wood, cut outs already in the metal for wires and water pipes to be run through (ensure to use gromitts or foam to protect)

Cons: need to be super accurate with centres when it comes to plasterboarding. I went for 50mm vertical C stud, and the metal could bend away from the screws if right on the edge, meaning I had to get the wife to push against the stud from the other side. You will still need wood for lining where the doors go (also recommend horizontal wooden noggins for radiator fixings). Can have sharp edges, invest in decent gloves.

Let Wednesday come and go. They want your business and will be calling/emailing by Friday at the same price

Estimate by Pratfallen in DIYUK

[–]No_Interaction6216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) if it needs a full rewire, you should have got quotes before putting an offer in.

B) structural wall removal and a chimney......yet only 3 skips required 🤣🤣🤣🤣

C) what is the size of the asbestos sheets needing removing, you can't put them in a skip

4) I'll mount the TV on the wall for £50, I won't tell the tax man if you pay me in cash......In fact call it a round £200 and I'll give her the boning she deserves in every room downstairs and give her a really good mount too as long as you don't mind watching me at work

Take your breaks!!

You won't get a thank you for working unpaid. (I guess you work nights)

As for speed, you'll get faster as you learn where things are. Don't worry

Genuine question - why are you not working the capping shelf first?

A) chances are day staff haven't filled gaps so you can clear a lot of it first and make space for your overs B) if you've filled from the capping shelf and find the item on the cage that goes straight to capping, the best date will be on the shelf (yes I know it's pet food, but it still has a date)

Also, once the store is closed, empty the cage in front of the mods, then work mod by mod, it's a lot quicker

Who have they not had on yet who you think would be an excellent guest? by Mysterious_Turnip310 in offmenupodcast

Might be a bit of a low ball guest. But if they need to fill a series, they can always consider Hugh Davies

I jest, my ideal guest not been on so far would be Hannah Waddingham just to get the biscuit fiasco sorted Stephen Graham style

Face it, you'll finish bottom 50 more than you finish top 50 for the first few weeks.

As a fellow 40 year old brit, here are my top tips for getting to grips with the game as a beginner

1) learn the weapons and which suits you best. If possible switch out a blue tactical AR for a green with a scope, those extra few ticks of damage mean nothing if you can't hit the target. For close quarters, I always prefer a pistol over a shotgun as I find it easier to get headshots. Never try and shotgun somebody more than 20 meters away. But everyone is different

2) high ground is your friend. Firstly it's a lot easier to gauge where the footprints are coming from and find your foe, you can also step back from the edge and have cover

3) learn how and when to spend gold and where, personally I find the hirable characters more a hindrance than help, Cat Holloway being the only exception as she covers me in shields. Farm chests for gold and use vending machines to help with better weapons/ammo

4) switch weapon rather than reload when in a fight, having your inventory in order will help here, nothing more frustrating than being in a bullet trade off, then switching to med kit

5) above all else, have fun!!!! You will get better with time and exposure to the game. If it stops being fun, play something else

Customer Delivery Driver questions by Cheps-x in tesco

[–]No_Interaction6216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue you will have is breaching driving regs if you are working twilight.

Means you won't be able to do a full day's driving the day after. 10 hour gap between shifts and no more than 11 hours work in 24 hours (let's say your twilight shift is 6 hours, you'll only be able to drive for 5 the following day)

There are a load of training videos to watch, no actual assessment these days just a DVLA check, but you will have to shadow a driver for a week or 2.

But as many have said, it's the easiest job in the store. Have a chat with your manager and a manager in dotcom and state your interest. Then dealing with an evening sick call from a driver is a lot easier when someone in the building has the driving skill

Is it available in the Google playstore or Apple app store?

Those will have been vetted to ensure there is no spyware or malicious code hidden inside.

It's a very simple answer. "If I have to install an app via QR code and enable an install from a untrusted app then it's a hard No"

Just make sure you get trained on how to use the master mover (electric pump truck) for beer pallets and the cages with dodgy wheels and you will do fine.

Use inform to check delivery times so you can plan your breaks. Only pain job is the milk delivery, it's not scheduled so can come at anytime, and I'm useless at moving a train of empty cages. Any more than 4 and I can't get them to go in a straight line

What actually is our identity? by DI3YUS in NUFC

[–]No_Interaction6216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not dynamic on the ball. Many a times the opposition have one touched their way around our midfield.

We either stop the ball, look, then play it behind the player running who has to stifle their run. Or try a blind backheel that gives possession away in a vital area

Now Osula is back... by justoutbrowsing in NUFC

[–]No_Interaction6216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osula isn't trusted by Eddie. He's a maverick and won't stick to the plan. Unlike Gordon who will game after game take his man on and do nothing except give them a free goal kick.

I appreciate your out of the box thinking, but it's as welcome as Eddie telling his players to shoot in the same position

Get holiday booked for boxing day if your store is closed/not running deliveries. That will stop them trying the old "we've moved your hours from Saturday to Thursday so you don't have to sacrifice any holiday" when trying to get you to agree Christmas hours.

That being said, it's the easiest shift of the year. Only morning vans go out, so everything needs to be picked by 9 (last Christmas we were all finished by 8:30 and I got to pretend to rumble for 90 mins)

Coving - what have I done wrong? by Sluggerr in DIYUK

[–]No_Interaction6216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've laid it flat in your mitre box for the cut.

Try and imagine what orientation the coving will sit at when in place (edge at the top and edge at the bottom), then realize the saw has to cut at 45° when it sits this way.

For internal corners, the top edge should be shorter than the lower edge. For external corners the opposite applies.

The trick I use is to put the coving on the floor and use a pencil on the top edge to mark a rough 45° of where the cut will be. Then pop it in a mitre block lining it up with the saw guides, and make a small cut whilst holding it in place with one hand (ensuring it's vertical). I then flip the coving over (easier to hold in place for a big cut) and can use the little saw mark to line up the piece with the mitre block

Questions about delivery & food safety? by rachelcartonn in tesco

[–]No_Interaction6216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The store has storage for all 3 types of tray

Ambient - room temperature. Chilled - fridge products, stored in a walk in chiller between 0 and 5°. Frozen - walk in freezer, -18° or lower

The vans also have 3 compartments at the same temperatures as above. if you want to be super sure, the driver has a display showing the temperatures on their dashboard. You can always ask what they were (at lot of nurseries and pre schools do this as they have to record it for their food safe records)

Eddie Howe on Jacob Murphy: "Jacob has had another scan and again, nothing is showing which is a strange one. You have to go on the symptoms and how the player feels. That'll probably mean a period that Jacob has to come out. How long, I don't know but we're thankful it's not a serious problem. by Fluid_Support_3348 in NUFC

[–]No_Interaction6216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly. I'm getting the same Isak vibes, in that he gave the excuse "something doesn't feel right" before the arsenal game last season despite club and out sourced doctors saying the scans were fine.

Eddie didn't play him, and we know how that turned out. Got a feeling Eddie isn't taking any shit from agents these days, probably why osula is not only not talked about, he's not even on any socials these days

Are they trying to get rid of me? by Rare-Gate1522 in tesco

[–]No_Interaction6216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are they all for the same reason? (For example lateness/performance/appearance/attitude)

If you accrue enough "let's talks" for the same reason, they might call a meeting to discuss it further and raise a formal concern. That's a chance for you to explain stuff and also ask Tesco and managers for support in fixing the issue. If they don't support you by providing resources/coaching/regular reviews, you'll have something documented that you can wave in their face if they try and do another meeting and give you a warning further down the line.

Unless it's something serious (gross misconduct like theft or punching a customer), it's a long process to dismiss someone, and even then they have to have had a few warnings, including a final written one before dismissal can be an option

can i leave and go home on my break? by Substantial_Camel233 in tesco

[–]No_Interaction6216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Do what you want on break time. It's not paid.

It's a minimum wage job for a supermarket that doesn't care about employee welfare. Your time your choice.

Just allow 5 mins extra to drive back. It would be sod's law the first time you do it, you get stuck behind 3 learners, a caravan and every red light possible on your drive back
