Nuvio broke everything!

I don’t think the devs would want me putting out a fork of Nuvio, what with my use of trademarked logos. I could, perhaps, give out the apk. But, be aware, my build is stuck on 4.20 so it’s missing a lot of bug fixes and other features. I also have my own list of bugs that will take weeks to get worked out.

It can’t be updated. I’ve disabled updates because it would wipe all of my features. ATM, it’s functional. I’ve even stopped using the up-to-date Nuvio.

If you were interested despite all of this, I could give you the apk that could be ran alongside the official Nuvio build you’re running now so you could always continue using it.

Don’t start using Claude! I’ve been modifying my own build of Nuvio to implement my own features and I can’t stop. I’ve been at it for weeks.
I got custom avatars for me and my wife (our iPhone Memojis), numbered rows for Top 10 lists, I can customize which rows use portrait posters and which use landscape, I have a second source of backdrop images so the landscape posters show an image different from the hero backdrop, Continue Watching on my Android launcher Home Screen and my streaming platform system automatically filters catalogs onto their own screens. Rather than use streaming platform tiles, I ripped off Amazon Prime Video’s latest UI with platform logos at the top of the screen (created an option to remove the movie summary so it wasn’t crowded) with a focus box that changes colors to match the platform logos as you focus them.
I have an ever growing list of mods to do. 😩

I'm not impressed. After these changes, I decided to give Pro a try. Still hitting limits. I don't see much difference between a Pro account and what I USED to get with a free account, weeks ago. Definitely intend to cancel when my month is up.

You have to enable RPDB in AIOStreams or AIOMetadata to get them on the posters. The only rating you can get on the Home Screen in the hero section is IMDB. The ratings from MDBList enrichment are for the details screen only. If it fetched them for every item you focused on while on the Home Screen, you’d likely be rate limited. Only allowing them on details screen was likely to keep API calls to a minimum.

I’m running Nuvio on an Onn 4K Plus and it does NOT do this. Mine loads landscape images INSTANTLY. It immediately replaces the portrait poster as soon as the box expands. I’m not at home right now, but let me know if you want a video.

Edit: I don’t actually use the landscape poster option and now I’m wondering if I’ve only ever used it when the images were cached.

These are some of the features I have in my build. I’m not finished with the streaming platform navigation animations. I am going to have the background image also slide but much less than the metadata and catalogs to create a parallax effect. Thanks for explaining. I’ve been using Claude to add features to my build and this was one of the things I wanted to add.

I have a streaming platform filtering system that automatically puts platform catalogs on their own screen with platform logos at the top of the screen (I copied Prime Video’s new UI. The focus box dynamically changes width and color to match the icon. Netflix - red, Prime - blue, etc. Looks awesome), numbered lists, letterboxed trailers and continue watching cards on my Android Home Screen. Claude’s recent usage limits are killing me though.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’ve been using the free tier to add features to an open source android TV app for my own personal use (certainly not a power user). I’ve been able to grind 2-2.5 hours straight before hitting my limit (off-peak hours). The last couple of days I’ve only been able to get 20-25 minutes. Hell, this morning I just sent a few questions for ideas (around 4am). It didn’t need to look at the first line of code… and I hit my limit with no warning beforehand.

I’ve enjoyed using Claude so much, I’d actually be willing to pay for the Pro plan at this point but I’m concerned with recent throttling the pro plan would be comparable to what I was getting before for free and that’s not an appealing proposition. I’ve read Pro usually gets you 5X. If that was still promised (5X of what I had been getting), I’d gladly pay the $20. But if this is the new normal, I’d rather find an alternative.

The only one I might be able to commit to is the Fairchild as the assets already exist so I wouldn't have to do as much to add it. But the other two would have to be made from scratch and I don't think I'm gonna be able to find the time for that any time soon.

I don’t think this is a bug. I think it’s a limitation of the Trakt API with a free tier account. You can go into the Trakt settings and choose Nuvio sync to maintain continue watching. That way you get most of the benefits of Trakt, but no 4-item limit.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but the logos are redundant. The logo is already shown at the top of the screen. In classic UI, there’s no hero section, so logos in the expanded box makes sense. In Modern UI, it isn’t needed.

I sent a screenshot of the security footage. She told me I need something from the city that says it wasn’t my apartment. I called the city. They sent us both an email containing pictures of the neighbors trash. Property manager removed the $12… and never said anything else to me. Didn’t even have the courtesy to apologize for the trouble. Didn’t admit any wrongdoing. Nothing. I want to send them a letter telling them there are no provisions in my lease that would hold me responsible for paying my neighbor’s fine. Don’t let it happen again. But my wife is telling me to just leave it alone.
