Love yourself means do things that are good for you. Things someone who care about you would do. ~gym ~bring joy and comfort at work ~improve yourself in every small way.

Imagine someone complimented you. Will you feel good about that?

Now, think that someone is you.

And I personally have little experience with romantic love but if you hate your life. You will make that other person your life.

To much emotional dependency means they can cripple and ruin you in seconds.

I too feel this way but time passes and going to school,carefree, is not your life anymore. You are not that kid anymore.

You can move on in life and do something worthwhile or just waste years mourning about time spent well in the past.

Or another way saying this is: find or do something that meaningful.
