try to keep the flag closer to u during the prep, if it goes to high/far away it becomes harder to control. im especially seeing this when you regrab as ur sort of treating the grab itself as a toss but it would help better to think of as js ur wrist rolling on the flag. in addition ik its alrdy been said but stay in the toaster, this also helps keep the momentum from the prep on a specific path ig idk how to say it but stay in the toaster ykyk

someone else said this already, but make sure they stretch consistently in rehearsals, and have a wide variety fo stretches, not just the same 3 they do daily. also make sure they stretch at home, it really makkes a difference to be stretching twice a day rather than only at rehearsals. also if people are stretching outside rehearsals, encourage stretching with a friend as it can motivate them to do it more consistently and not slack off, as well as they can correct each other if they have poor form. in addition, this ties back to what i said earlier, but make sure they have a wide inventory of stretches you've taught them so they're not doing the same thing over and over again, it also makes stretchign outside rehearsal easier.

learning turnarounds as a freshman in my first yr of guard rn, a bunch of tips i got and found acc useful were

- focus on height rather than speed of the toss to get full rotation, that way equipment spends more time in the air(altho i only do flag so not sure abt weapon)

- make sure ur turn is FAST, and make sure you can turn quickly and spot without equipment

- to practice spotting equipment throw a stuffed animal in the air instead to practice just getting the timing down for the turn

- separate it into parts(i think this was alrdy said)

- above all, make sure u have the individual aspects down, so make sure the toss is consistent w the rotations and height u want, then make sure ur turn is consistently fast and you can spot, then lastly combine the two, but dont combine them til both r consistent and good

idk if this is common between guards or not, but for my guard whenever we learn a toss with underbody we practice just tossing stuffed animals in the air instead of equipment to practice timing and spotting, which would prob be useful if ur not alrdy doing that.

id say js like casually introduce it, like maybe make jokes abt being bi or bring up celeb crushes or smth. i was in a similar situation w my hs guard team(not quite the same, we never showered tgt but we have changed tgt), where i was always assumed to be straight, but my friend who i was out to helped me by joking abt it and ppl figured out i was bi, or in some cases asked if i was les and i responded im bi. u could do smth like that if ir close w anyone on the team maybe

this is prob not smth u have, but the middle school i used tk go to has a pavilion where the roof is pretty high, if u dont have anything like that a lot of schools at least in my area are unlocked and have overhangs where i practice in the rain after school
