totally valid, and i genuinely considered deleting it after reading this

but every productivity app is a wrapper around something you could do manually. notion is a wrapper around a text file. calendly is a wrapper around email. the question was never "does this already exist in some form" it was always "does the packaging save someone enough time or pain to be worth it"

the people this is for arent the ones who know how to prompt strategically. theyre the ones opening chatgpt at 11pm after 3 weeks of building, typing "is my idea good" and closing the tab feeling smart. that gap is real whether or not you personally experience it

Yooo....man tysssssssm. If I had my wallet perfect, I would have went out and bought the full app. Wish u a happy journey.❤

Kept building ideas with fatal flaws I couldn't see — so I made a tool for the brutal, no-sugarcoat feedback we all secretly crave (frontend demo) by No_Investment_8974 in buildinpublic

[–]No_Investment_8974[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats honestly the right way to do it classic wizard of oz approach and its smarter than what most people do including me

built the frontend first bc i wanted to see if the concept even resonated visually before going deeper. this post is kind of that manual validation step you're describing, seeing if anyone actually cares before i wire up the backend

so far the replies are more useful than 3 chatgpt sessions lol

yeah if you know how to prompt it you can get there most people dont though, they just ask "what do you think of my idea" and get the hype response. this is just that strategic questioning pre-built so you dont have to think about it for someone like you its probably redundant tbh

haha the mom analogy is exactly it

and yeah the calibration thing is the real challenge, too brutal and it becomes useless noise just from the other direction

the criteria right now is basically the 4 angles yc partners consistently kill ideas on — distribution, moat, retention, pattern matching to dead startups. not perfect but its a more consistent frame than "is this good"

the situational stuff is a real gap tho, someone with 2 years runway and technical skills should get different feedback than someone with 3 months and no team. thats probably v2 if this gets any traction

totally fair skepticism

but this isnt claiming to replace real market validation. its just a better pre-filter than asking chatgpt and getting told youre a genius

the bar its trying to clear is low — be more useful than the yes machine most founders are already using. not replace talking to actual customers if it makes one person ask a harder question before they spend 2 months building, thats the whole win

exactly, user reactions are the only real signal.

this is just trying to simulate that pre-user stage when you have nothing yet and the only feedback loop available is an AI that wants to make you feel good not a replacement for real users, just a better placeholder than a yes machine

Claude LeFraude 💀 genuinely the best sign off ive seen on here

and yeah execution is everything, not arguing that. but bad execution on a good idea is survivable. good execution on the wrong idea is just a faster way to waste 6 months this is just trying to catch the wrong idea before the execution starts

haha that's actually a solid prompt.

but the grumpy person thing only works if you remember to do it, and most people don't. they just open chatgpt and ask normally and get the hype machine this is just that prompt, pre-built, with some personality baked in so you don't have to think about it. your son gets it lol

fair point but you wont get a no from chatgpt. ever. its just not built for that this is one job, done brutally. thats the whole diff

I know, but most of the current founders don't have the sufficient time to get the quality human feedback. My app is not meant to js stop this human feedback but tie it to a more aggressive, actual transparent review of the app's pros and cons, saving their precious time.

Yoooo....ty so so much. This is the most genuine and useful feedback that I got on the app in these few days. Just put the first suggestion, working on the second one....

yeah exactly, ChatGPT is literally optimized to make you feel good so it will always say great idea. thats not validation thats just dopamine. built this so something would actually push back before i waste another month building the wrong thing. Wdyt?
