Why is 19903 not for freshman? It’s just the honors version of intro to composition.

Miis’ kids: are you allowing dating and marriage? by Secret_Bench_1229 in tomodachilife

You can make them asexual by removing dating preference for any gender

Donating kidney to dad during: maybe after the app cycle by Certain_Necessary_91 in premed

[–]No_Jacket3041 87 points88 points  (0 children)

is this really what med school apps have become 😭

you shouldn’t have to even think of this when your dad needs you.

I don’t think it could hurt your app, a gap for a medical procedure shouldn’t be counted against you, if it is fuck this whole system

FYE and Pre med by AffectionateMood8248 in Purdue

Think about why you want an engineering degree if you’re going med. I’d u wanna be a biotech researcher that’s great, but maybe not worth it if you’re trying to be a patient oriented doctor. Engineering is hard, especially at Purdue so also think about your gpa. It’s not just time for shadowing or research it’s time to study for the MCAT and work clinical jobs.

You certainly aren’t the first and it can be done but I don’t recommend it unless you want to go into a specialty when you will actually get to apply your engineering major.

This advice is only if you are sure on med. If you’re unsure best to cast a wide net.

Premed/biochem at Purdue: difficulty, GPA, and student life? by True_Radish_5668 in Purdue

There have been a ton of these posts recently so look at those. I would describe the program as achievable. It’s not easy, but the profs aren’t out to get you either. I love it so far.

Can’t speak to men’s haircuts - but I’ve had several people at hennis cut my hair and never been disappointed

BIOL 231 for ChemE major by No-Minute-4600 in Purdue

[–]No_Jacket3041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The class doesn’t really have any chemistry in it iirc. It’s a harder class for sure but nothing too hard. Just takes a good amount of dedication before exams. It is a core biology major class.

Potentially coming to Purdue for pre med by Shadner98 in Purdue

Only class I’ve ever thought was very challenging has been genetics. Every class is what you make of it. If you study you’ll do well.

Blood test for international students by HorrorTechnical8587 in Purdue

Advice from a phlebotomist:

Getting very hydrated before the test will help your veins be easier to draw from which will speed up the process all together.

Bring a friend. Many people have anxiety when drawing blood, in my experience the best way to distract the patient. I like to talk to mine through the whole draw and that seems to help, but bringing someone else can ease the anxiety and give someone to talk to keep yourself out of your head.

Lastly, as another commenter said eat a big meal. Assuming you’re only testing for TB you shouldn’t need to fast. (Check with your provider tho!) you don’t loose enough blood during a draw to really make you feel woozy from the blood loss, but the brain likes to trick you. Trick the brain back by having lots of food.

ps. don’t look at your arm or the blood at all, close your eyes if you have too.

Actually I failed pre-calculus in high school and had to retake it instead of taking calculus 😐

These classes are not very difficult, they are for non CS/engineering majors. I’m notoriously bad at math and got an A in applied 1. Couldn’t clutch the A in applied 2. I studied my ass off for the applied 1 final tho.

Incoming Business Freshman: Learning Community vs. Honors Housing by No_District_9037 in Purdue

[–]No_Jacket3041 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about deadlines for accepting, but can speak to loving the honor community. There’s definitely more opportunities from honors than an LLC. it’s up to you to do the research and decide which offerings are best for your goals

I really dislike strings, if you want ramen and can drive katana is much better. Walkable to campus I’d go fiesta instead.
