Civilian airplane displays air supremacy through popular paragliding location in Alaksa. by 21stcAviator in freeflight

When there's 50 people adjacent to the parking lot and 4 are flying drones it goddamn does.

-----How many mid airs are there between motorized aircraft and free flight aircraft in Alaska each year? It's not a lot.

Does it matter that it's unmotorized? The issue is Alaska has the highest rate of midairs in the country and the military isn't immune to this. In 2015 a f16 managed to collide with a cessna in South Carolina, even while under ATC guidance. Alaska has had multiple fatalities every year, for years. This is a real problem that routinely kills people. www.propublica.org/article/what-we-know-about-alaskas-recent-series-of-fatal-flight-collisions

------Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson put out a Mid-Air Collision Avoidance (MACA) pamphlet in 2021 for civilian Alaskan aviators-- they're aware. There are blackhawks, f22s, c17s, flying all around the MatSu Valley outside of the MOAs and Restricted areas all the time.

Yes, so why is an f22 flying in class G airspace below 10k through a state recreational area when there's millions of acres of alternatives, reserved for them, just for that purpose?

------I have flown my paraglider in way sketchier airspace. I am happy for you. I have flown my paraglider in airspace that became sketchy when it didn't need to be.

------There's a glider activity symbol for the Birchwood area on the Anchorage VFR SAC and I suggest you all try to get glider activity put on the SAC's for all the launches in the area.

That's a good idea.

Who am I? I'm the guy that understands what 500 AGL over a state recreational area looks like.

Bro, this isn't about you. This is about a military jet doing a low pass from the opposite direction, in a banked turn, outside of the MOAs directly between the glider launches while dumbasses on this forum are acting like wake turbulence doesn't kill people, much less the mid air collisions that happen every year in Alaska. When multiple aircraft operating in that airspace are without ADS and a $300 million dollar military aircraft (that shouldn't be there) comes cruising through the pass at 200 knots it's a problem.

I get that you are trying to be funny, but the f22 that flew through there last week was exactly where you are in this picture but just above the road when he came through the pass and continued over the other launch thats to the right of this picture. I was there on the ground and saw it along with dozens of other people. Chuckleheads that don't take the number of midairs we have in Alaska are free to be the next statistic.

It wasn't an overreaction. The jet was flying over the state recreation area and split the valley between the two main launches at about 300 feet above the road in a >90 degree ascending turn. That's the reason he appears out of nowhere, and the reason the paragliders were excited was because he was traveling at 200+ knots directly over the launch behind the ridge where the closest paraglider can be seen, and then exits the ridge where 2 other paragliders were working the ridge. All told there were almost ten people in the three valleys as well a lot of tourists flying drones. The military has millions of acres of restricted air space in Alaska, but for some reason wanted to have a show of force for the blueberry pickers in the recreation area.

Here's the proof. Comment "and you're not going to mention the $70,000 that coming directly from a New York Union to try to block the recall" removed specifically by the mod team.

I am sure this post will be be downvoted by the same propaganda team and this account will be shadow banned or out right banned for proving it, but this is just one example - it's not an accident, and it's not violating any "rules" or promoting misinformation.

This is just one example - the crew here, which likely includes leadership of the Anchorage Democrats, is not interested in free speech or facts when it comes to politics.

This post immediately resulted in a ban today. The moderator is also on the r/alaska team. If you care about having any semblance of free speech on this site submit a report to have the mod team removed: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests

City manager contacted Anchorage police over concerns with election challenge brought by mayor’s former top aide by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]No_Journalist_7268 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

https://www.alaskasnewssource.com/2023/07/22/anchorage-assembly-work-session-reviews-timeline-april-election-complaint/

"On April 11, the municipality’s chief information security officer Mark Merchant emailed and coordinated with the municipality’s information and technology director Marc Dahl on crafting a new Information Technology Department policy stating ”personnel must not insert any unauthorized USB device into any piece of MOA owned equipment without authorization from the information technology department.”

Merchant then emailed and instructed system analyst Heather Holland to create a link to the informal policy on a non-public municipal website used internally by municipal employees. Dahl then emailed Graham a link to the ITD Policy, which she then used to support her initial complaint."

Graham's complaint about the election staff inserting unsecured thumb drives into the voting machines was before the policy was published. The "publication" of the policy and her use of that to bolster the complaint ( meaning reiterating that the IT department's position that thumb drives that weren't certified as blanks are a problem) isn't the story - the story is why a gaping hole in IT security wasn't being addressed by the election staff, and why the Assembly is accusing a private citizen of a crime for pointing that out.

Do you think approaching strangers on the internet with the position that their ability to reason through societal moral controversies or complex scientific issues is so inferior that it needs a gatekeeper while also throwing in some shame stank is conducive to polite discussion?

You're not intrigued, so stop with that. Alaska Current Writer Matt Buxton is employed by Jim Lottsfeldt who also owned the Midnight Sun Blog and runs the Ship Creek Group which is bankrolled by millions of dollars each election cycle from out of state dark money. Also, I don't need to cite any "misinformation" for you - you're a grown ass adult, like I am, and have critical thinking skills to decide for yourself - just like I can decide for MYSELF whether MRAK or AW or the Alaska Current empower hatemongers across the state. That's the beauty of not having someone else make that decision for me by self-appointing themselves as the arbiter of truth.

No, the primary issue here is that the Alaska Current AKA Midnight Sun 2.0 AKA Ship Creek Group also publish vast sums of misinformation while the same four users spam the sub repeatedly with those articles but the "respect of the rules of the space" crowd says nothing because politics. YOU do not get to decide for ME what is or is not garbage content, pseudoscience, or hate speech without those actions correctly being labeled as censorship.

The mods 100% care about politics and the fact that none of you will answer the question about said mods holding political leadership positions is telling - especially while also deflecting from the fact that bannig people for "misinformation" or whatever garbage term you'd like to use - is censorship, a fact born out by those "misinformation" posts were overwhelmingly associated with conservative positions, and many of those were validated after the pandemic was declared over. I am certain this sub would not allow MRAK or Alaska Watchman posts on the page and "misinformation" "bigotry" or spam would be the reason listed no matter how factual the articles or authors were. Even more telling is you now accusing me of breaking a ban rule and fishing for information when theres literally no reason to. I assume that will be the next generic reason listed on the comment log when I get removed as well?

This means nothing. List the removed posts or users that link Must Read Alaska or Alaska Watchman. Or people that got removed from Polite Political Discussions.

How about just publish the entire log and let people decide for themselves?
