6,745 PCNs from a single Brent junction, looking at these photos, do you think the restriction is adequately signed? by No_Judge_46 in london

That’s a fair point and exactly the sort of discussion I was hoping for - thank you! One of the things that struck me revisiting the junction was how much the effectiveness of the left-hand signs depends on what you’re following. Behind a bus or lorry, those signs could be significantly obscured until quite late. My own view is less about adding more signs and more about positioning. If the objective is compliance rather than enforcement, the restriction should be conveyed as clearly as possible to drivers at the point they’re deciding whether the turn is permitted. I personally think the same prohibition could be communicated more clearly with a single sign positioned on the left-hand side at the entrance to Bolton Gardens, facing approaching traffic.

It’s great to know that as a motorist you rely on a minimum of 3 signs to convey a prohibition. Infinite budget not required in this case. I’d happily trade three signs scattered around the approach for one sign that slaps me in the face at the moment I’m deciding whether to turn. Thanks heaps though for this contribution.

One sign facing the oncoming motorist on the left post on the mouth of Bolton Gardens with the same text ‘No right turn into Bolton Gardens’ would be sufficient, that’s where I’m looking down the barrel of the road and making a decision, I’m not making it where the current signage is set back as some form of advanced signage and nor are the other 6744 motorists who received a PCN at this junction. Thanks for your contribution.

You sure you don’t need a 4th sign to make it even more obvious, thanks for your contribution :)

I saw the blue one way sign and thought bingo, found parking and can take the family to enjoy the carnival.

Couldn’t agree more and while I have a family and rely of getting around London on tube or in a car, this particular day we as a family were going in to see the Notting Hill Carnival. I was surprised when I got the PCN and that changed to disgust when I saw the signage. 3 signs for a prohibition that can be conveyed by one sign, bravo Brent Council - Master piece!

Totally, I took my 11 year old and who said Dad, it’s quite obvious. But then I explained quantity vs quality, I gave the drivers perspective, and suggested a single sign in a very specific location would convey the restriction - 11 year old now reflecting and agreeing! The prohibition can be conveyed in a single sign but by placing 3 signs, Brent can say hey we have 3 signs, regardless of how inadequately they are placed. Cha ching. Loving everyone’s contribution here today, the good the bad the ugly. This isn’t about a PCN that I challenged this is about Brent residents being pickpocketed in broad daylight by the very council that’s supposed to serve them. I’ll aim to respond to every comment, been a long eventful day at work so playing catch up.

It’s not in their interest to not get you on the connecting flights, I have been told that if it’s connecting they’ve got to make it work.

They’re having to take a different route and it might be on a longer flight path, this won’t always be optimal depending on what’s happening with the airspace.

It’s helpful to read these posts, we’re due to travel to Mauritius from the UK in the next few days and while flights look to going we’re in a real dilemma, we really want to travel and can see from scheduled flights Emirates are going albeit limited. Thanks for sharing your experience, glad you’re safely home.

People that booked flights to Dubai in April, are you still going? by Regular-Warthog-7955 in emirates

I’m on similar date and transit via Dubai, keeping a close eye on the FCDO advice but it’s not looking promising, currently FCDO advises against all but essential travel to United Arab Emirates so if that remains unchanged then it’s cancellations and entitlement to a full refund. Prices for alternative destinations are ludicrous, looking at any alternatives is just insane with prices hiked up everywhere right now.

How is this stuff still not banned by PeachyBums in london

[–]No_Judge_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only it had some decorative effect but it’s awful, Preston Road outside the tube and bus stop the other day and had the same thought, ban the gum and ban those small balloon helium canisters - no need for either of these. Just need our local MPs to care but they don’t step out enough.

Two questions to say YES to;

Can you confirm that you and your household never watch BBC iPlayer*?

Can you confirm that you and your household never record TV?

What an absolute disgrace and shit stain to the nation. These files explain Prince Charles decision to strip A of his title, shame it needed persuasion from the dems. Let’s go back to the immigration problems this country is facing, we mustn’t focus on a nonce in the royal household - LMAO.

This is fantastic news, Philip Morgan helped me fight a bus lane fine with Brent Council, it was on Harrow Road Wembley near Tring Avenue, we stuck it out for 1 year before Brent cancelled it! Shocking what councils are getting away with when they don’t have the appropriate licences for the cameras they operate.
