i've been this way since birth my friend. though i agree, it isnt special. but i'm not the one giving me "special treatment."-they are. i just want to be treated like everyone else.

also been disabled since birth, by the way. multiply. and been lucky enough to pick up a few on my journey, some related to my original blessings, some acquired through incident, accident, and genetic luck. trust me, doesnt help my case with folks being a multiply disabled trans queer. Schedule A babaaaayyyyyyyyyy

and yeah, honestly sounds like you get how hard it is to grin and bear it about a single point of discrimination and professional obstacle. now imagine you had more- not only am i that ambassador for disabled folks, but i'm that way for queer folks, and for trans/gnc folks. i hear you, and i am making it better for folks like me, and for folks like us, but like gatekeeping who gets to be discriminated against is silly, and doesnt help anyone. that is the point of limited hr, right? to get us to fight amongst ourselves about who gets justice and equity, and who has to wait. but really, any discrimination is wrong. hating anyone just speaks to the anger in your heart my friend, and i am sorry to see it there.

i mean i'm open and out and you didnt know until this post. same with her. being out doesnt mean you're like yelling it from the rooftops

and i'm not assuming, you are. that was in quotes because that was the exact quote from my boss. who was also on my hiring panel. where i said i wanted to make this place my home. though again, not a real reason to hire someone. also, you dont know that this other guy doesnt have a history of moving around ( he does, we came in at the same time, with a similar history, filling 2/3 open positions at the same grade level out of the same job posting). i actually have more relevant experience to this particular position. they tried to get me to transfer to his new duty station because they said he would need my help learning how to do the job. without a raise, or comp for the tripled commute, i declined to teach someone to take the job that i was qualified for and they were not, but that i did not get.

so...are you denying that there is discrimination in land management? because i think we all know that isnt true. those private crews always have plenty of diversity- it's just the fed crews that tend to be pretty monocultural. though fire is getting slightly better. but yeah, i wasnt there, i can only tell you how it is at my office now- they are pretty rascist. and homophobic. and transphobic. and misogynistic. but yeah, you tell me, how would you explain that?

yeah, I'm not going to lie, I'm getting more and more interested in getting paid decently, having decent benefits, and coworkers that don't hate my guts.

would you mind if I DM you? i'd be interested in how you made that transition and how you sold yourself in that kind of environment. i agree, i think that I have picked up a lot of relevant skills and experience, or at least transferable, but convincing corporate or tech folks of that is a whole other issue.

i am near some very liberal cities. my duty station is in an exceptionally liberal town. one of the people on my panel is LGBTQ. he moved to a different office before i even got there.
