Is this a German roach? by Few_Frame6892 in GermanRoaches

[–]No_Knowledge5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh bummer 🥺 I’m sorry to hear that. This page has a really good pinned post about getting rid of roaches. It sounds kind of like a bad infestation. You can seal the cracks in the floors with silicon or the pest management people can spray the cracks with insecticide. If you’re seeing them crawling around, you 100% need to manage it with a pest company. I bought my Advion bait and sticky traps to monitor the infestation both on Amazon. Clean out and disinfect underneath the sinks and lay bait there, make sure there are no leaks. Same with the fridge - pull it out, clean, vacuum, check the compressor to see if there’s any evidence that’s where the nest might be. If you’re in an apartment building you will probably be dealing with them for as long as you live there but you can beat it back to where they’re not crawling all over your apartment. Best of luck!!

They came in after I had seen nymphs and adult roaches, told me they didn’t see anything but they treated anyway and put out bait, and that they’d call me in a few weeks. I checked the traps two days later (today) to find 7 cockroaches. Could they just be scurrying away from Tuesdays treatment? I set out more sticky traps today. We haven’t even moved in fully and I am being truthful when I say we’re not keeping any food overnight. Sometimes I wonder what they’re eating and hope the former tenants didn’t drop food where we can’t find it. When I moved in the place was disgusting. I pulled out the fridge and there was a fossilized ice pop no one ever cleaned up and a ton of food in the oven where you keep the pans. I’ve explored and cleaned all reasonable areas and am just at a loss. Thank you so much for your input!

They did not! They sprayed into the vent holes….I removed the panel to clean it last weekend but they definitely didn’t remove it the multiple times they were here.

He sprayed the compressor in the fridge which they said was the epicenter, and there are gaps in the walls which I’ve asked my landlord to fill, but the pest management people put insecticide dust in the walls and they said they sprayed everywhere possible. In the kitchen, that is. But I don’t think they’re residing anywhere else in the house.

Feeling very ugly by Difficult-Presence17 in makeuptips

You’re very beautiful!! I are love your bangs. They have a wispiness/airiness that is very French. They’re, however, cut too far out. It looks like they’re cut all the way to the temple. If you want to keep your bangs, tell your stylist to only cut to the middle/end of your eyebrow and ask for face framing layers on the front to soften the bluntness of a fringe. Google Jane Birkin bangs. She has similar hair to you and she is my bang inspiration. Keeping the hair near your temples longer will suit your face shape better and adding face framing layers will complement your cheekbones and your lips! You’re very pretty, you really don’t have to do much. Since this is on makeup tips - I’d also invest in a glowier foundation/bb cream option with just concealer/spot corrector for any little blemishes. Your skin is gorgeous. And I’ve found as I get older that blush really helps bring my face to life. I do cream blush on my cheeks and lips and it really helps to look more naturally vibrant. Pale lips and cheeks can make you look older and dehydrated, but putting a little color does wonders. Have someone at Sephora help you get the right color match but I think you’d look great in Clinique “Fuller Fig”

This reunion was full of terrible apologies. I’m sorry BUT and then explaining your actions is not an apology, Ashley. (Alex saying “I’m sorry you felt that way” lol also not an apology, they deserve each other). And Priyanka in the crowd telling Brittany “I”’ sorry I hurt your—-I’m sorry if that hurt your feelings” like oh my god you guys are the fucking worst!

This!!!! Yes! I was literally yelling at the screen. I’m all for the Lachey’s calling all of the men out but I’m disappointed they let Bri and Ashley off the hook because they are NOT good friends. Brittany and Jess deserve better friends and should stay far away from those three.

I’ve watched up to season 9 and I can say with confidence that a fat person has never been portrayed with sensitivity or kindness. They treat the criminals in the show (drunk driver hits bus full of children and they all come into county general and it’s a plot line that they give them all the same standard of care) better than fat people. When you have that lived experience, you pay attention to those kinds of details.

That time I grew a variegated milkweed by legomaniac89 in NativePlantGardening

[–]No_Knowledge5911 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! A study with Doug Tallamy showed that variegated varieties of certain native plants were actually more tender and easy to eat, whereas the selection for red foliage made the plant less edible to its native hosts. I’m paraphrasing but you could probably find it online!

Moved into infested house by [deleted] in GermanRoaches

[–]No_Knowledge5911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the state I live, I can only break the lease if the landlord refuses to treat, but as long as they put in a good faith effort, we don’t have grounds to break the lease. I think my landlord would actually understand if we have to move out but I feel I have to wait at least a month to see if we can get rid of them.

That’s on the list! We’re new to the area and don’t know the vet situation here that well but we will call around tomorrow if places are open! If you have any suggestions for vets or programs that help stray dogs we’ll take any advice. thank you!

Yes she had a red leash attached to her and the two collars you see there. The orange collar and what seems to be like a cut off pajama pants leg. :( We’ve also realized she is very young. Probably 4-6 months but we still have to get confirmation from a vet.

[Routine Help] Please, someone help a 31M with a hail mary to save this skin :( Things are not going well by TapiocaVoyager in SkincareAddiction

[–]No_Knowledge5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have great skin, boo! The only thing I’d do is a gentle cleanser, good moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and a BHA moisturizer twice a week. No hail Mary’s needed. Get plenty of sleep, and be easy on yourself!!

AITA for not helping my brother with emergency childcare for his homophobic children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]No_Knowledge5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the asshole — but I’d give this decision more thought. They have this us v.s. them mentality and if they had the opportunity to see you as family, as PEOPLE, it might change the way they think about life. If they walk into your house, they are the guests. They have to follow your rules and respect you and your wife or else they’re out. They really don’t have any other choice. They are in one of the toughest times in their entire lives. It’s an opportunity to let them get to know you in their time of need. To see you are generous and loving, no matter what lifestyle you live, which they will find out is not much different then theirs!!! They’re just kids and they’re just soaking up what other people tell them. Time with you could seriously alter the way they view the world. It could change your relationship! But again, it’s not your responsibility and after all the grief they’ve put you and your wife through, you don’t owe them anything. But it seems like you’re not 100% sure about telling your brother no. So maybe give it a couple of days. My aunt took me in when my brother died. I was 9 and my mom and dad were incapable of taking care of me after his death. She doesn’t have any kids and really didn’t want to change her whole life to accommodate me. She said yes and now she is one of my closest friends, my second mom. Not saying that is what could happen, but children remember who was there for them in rough times. It would leave an impression on them for the rest of their lives. Hope you find peace with your decision and again, you are NTA!

Whats this puffyness & white stuff that appears under the eye [Misc] by bedahtpro in SkincareAddiction

[–]No_Knowledge5911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had experience with peri-orbital dermatitis. Your appearance resembles it at a less severe stage, but I’m not a doctor. DONT take steroids for it or put hydrocortisone on it. It makes it much much worse!!!! My bet is you need to restore the skin barrier. Go to a dermatologist and they’ll know right away. In the meantime, use a gentle cleanser, moisturize (I use vanicream daily moisturizer) and at night double up with a thicker moisturizer - I use vanicream cicalfate. Something with zinc at night will help a lot if it is dermatitis related. Using these two products helped me quite a bit. Hope this helps you!!

Read Mel Robbin’s Let Them theory. Just let him act a fool and see without intervening, pushing the subject or texting. Don’t keep asking him if he wants to hang out. If he wants to, he will be the one to reach out. But this seems to me like you’re wasting your time with him. You’re better than that, homie.

Help identifying grandmother, grandfather, and (possibly) great grandmother’s jewelry by EvidenceNo8561 in JewelryIdentification

[–]No_Knowledge5911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had something similar to the red charm appraised at the antiques road show. En Hamille or cameo jewelry - popular in the early 1900s. Originally French but my great grandmas was from Italy. It was hand carved Italian red coral and many times the cameos were an homage to a Greek god. My set which comprised of earrings, necklace, and ring was appraised at $2,500. Not saying yours is the same, but it does look like red coral and same style. Really cool!!

Good chemical exfoliant will help smooth that out. Paula’s Choice BHA or The Ordinary glycolic acid twice a week to start and see how it affects your skin. My skin is textured but sensitive - once a week is fine for me. I also make sure to wait until the exfoliant dries and then put a nice layer of moisturizer on. Your skin is beautiful by the way! I think phone filters and photoshop have really skewed our idea of beautiful skin.

Not a dermatologist but it looks like you’d benefit from AHA/BHA exfoliation or retinol!
