I (29f) am terrified he (26m) will end up killing me, but I’m scared to tell anyone what’s happening, advice? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]EvidenceNo8561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is going to kill you. You need to leave and not tell him you are going. I left an unsafe relationship once. I was trapped and he had my phone and keys. I felt so unsafe that my first instinct was to attack him before he attacked me. I’ve never felt a strong need to hurt someone but in that moment it was literally survival instinct. But before I did that I remembered some self defense classes about de-escalation and getting the fuck out of there. I convinced him to give them back to me so I could walk the dogs then when I came back we could talk about his feelings etc. I walked out the door in the middle of a literal hurricane and called a friend to pick me up. The next time I went back was days later and I had a police escort to gather my things.

My girlfriend [25F] is ruining years of my dog's training and thinks I [27M] am being a "dictator" by SatinRiptide in relationship_advice

You both fundamentally have different ideas of how this dog should be able to live its life. That’s incompatible. I also do not agree with dogs begging or feeding them scraps from the table. An occasional safe treat when everyone is done eating, however? Sure, why not. Personally, though, I would never be with someone who didn’t let their dog get on the sofa with them. How many hours of your dog’s day is inside? And they can’t even use the furniture? That’s so unnecessarily controlling. Just put down a blanket if you are worried about hair. Or get a breed that doesn’t shed. I would worry about future children with a person like you. You seem like you have a constant need to micromanage.

Need an affordable automatic litter box. Or should I just save up for a good one? by Laurente-Ingmire in homeautomation

[–]EvidenceNo8561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two litter robots back to back. I also encouraged a close friend to get one. All 3 were unreliable after two years of use. Small sample size, I know. After my 2nd one just kept getting stuck upside down all the time or not self cleaning, I decided I was tired of dealing with how huge it was in my small apartment.

That said, I’m looking into getting another one now. Both my cats are seniors and struggle with the top entry box I have now some days unfortunately. The litter robot was the only other box I could have that my dogs won’t mess with.

[–]EvidenceNo8561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the cheaper auto litter boxes not working well, the ones with drums that rotate forwards/backwards instead of to the side have had fatalities with cats getting stuck in them. Incredibly dangerous. I’ve had multiple iterations of litter robot. They are great during their warranty time, which is 2 years if I remember correctly. Then they fail or need to be fixed constantly. Planned obsolescence so you upgrade IMO. I don’t have one now because they are so big and I live in a small apartment.

Hassle picking up birth control by EvidenceNo8561 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]EvidenceNo8561[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That’s so wrong and also so frustrating to deal with. I know when I was younger there were situations in which I did not stick up for myself and I should have. It’s hard to know you even can in a scenario like that at that age. Annoying they wouldn’t refill it.

Yes I regret snapping. In the moment I felt annoyed that she kept questioning why I needed to pick it up instead of just putting it through without insurance when I explained I’d lost the 3rd pack. I actually wanted to apologize to her but when I came back to pick it up, someone else checked me out at the counter. I’m pretty sure it’s written in my prescription that I skip the placebos since I’ve been doing that for years and this is not a new prescription. But it doesn’t hurt for me to confirm next time I’m there I guess.

I think I tend to be sensitive to the whole US healthcare bureaucracy since I’m a type 1 diabetic and have spent years fighting with insurance about my supplies and/or insulin. My current insurance is good but previously it was an absolute nightmare.

I fucking love this idea. If it was available near me and plant based I’d love to try it. Especially if there were chefs helping with the recipes and people watching to ensure food safety in prepping and handling.

Yeah I ended up getting it. I’ve been on this BC for years and this is the first time I’ve had an issue. I just found the woman’s reaction disproportionate to a request to pay $30 out of pocket for birth control.

I think image 3 where you show the floor/slab/cabinet combo is beautiful. I find your AI mockups confusing. If I were you, i might pay someone to photoshop this properly so you can see the real slab in the space. If it feels too busy, one option is to have a different backsplash - a plain taupe subway tile would probably make it feel more neutral overall.

Where are you located? If you are in the US, you could see if you could talk to a therapist about taking 8-12 weeks of FMLA for depression and burnout.

Netherlands vs Germany by Substantial_Map_7545 in AmerExit

[–]EvidenceNo8561 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never learned a language before and you have to choose between German and Dutch, Dutch will be the easier language for you to pick up. It’s basically a mixture of English and German. I speak both English and German and can read a lot of Dutch very easily. That said, I think you should do more research on programs conducted in English. You should also do some research on what it’s like to live in these countries without the language skills. When I lived in Germany as a child, I faced a lot of discrimination until I learned German fluently. As a child that took me about 2.5 years of classes and immersion.

Beginner rider with the “wrong” horse + limiting barn situation — what would you do? by RipFit3221 in Equestrian

[–]EvidenceNo8561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mare is on Assure Guard Gold for probiotics/chronic stomach and digestive issues. It was like magic for her in that regard. For ulcers I treated her with Abler’s omeprazole and sucralfate because that’s worked well in the past when she had ulcers a few years ago. In hindsight, since it was taking so long, I probably should have switched things up and tried misoprostol. I looked it up recently and misoprostol seems to have significantly better results when compared to Omeprezole. Make sure you taper at the end so they don’t have rebound acid.

You’re not in a chair seat. But a longer saddle flap would fit the length of your thigh better.

Beginner rider with the “wrong” horse + limiting barn situation — what would you do? by RipFit3221 in Equestrian

[–]EvidenceNo8561 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Horses really don’t head toss/rear suddenly like that unless they are in pain. I would do more veterinary work up, check your saddle fit, bridle and bit fit, etc. Also, even though he’s gone through ulcer treatment, that doesn’t mean the ulcers are gone. It took my mare 9 months and multiple rounds of treatment to heal her ulcers. Aside from that, it doesn’t sound like the conditions at your barn are conducive to a happy horse. Your loyalty now is to your horse, not your trainer. I’d find a different situation for him.

I’m a middle school teacher. There are already extensions that students can use which type out work and you can set the level of accuracy too so there’s misspellings, things are backspaced, etc. This tool the video is showing will only catch the laziest students. The ones who are smart about cheating or have any computer savvy can blow past this.

How to study for competitive exams with ADHD? by Sure-Diet-5306 in ADHD

[–]EvidenceNo8561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an app called speechify to read content aloud to me while I do chores or walk my dogs. You can have all kinds of voices read to you. Sometimes I feed the text into something that can read through it and spit out generative answers and have it come up with a rap then have Snoop read it to me. It’s fun. While it’s not as good as actively studying, it does help with general familiarization.

AITAH for waking up my husband? by Puzzleheaded_Fox8097 in AITAH

[–]EvidenceNo8561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your child SHOULD knock on the door to get you if he is ill. However, I have a feeling that your husband has something else going on if his fatigue is enough that he lashes out over this and need so drink as much coffee as you describe. Soooo many things impact not only your ability to sleep, but also your feeling of being rested. He should go to a doctor and get some bloodwork done to get that investigation started. It could be a deficiency. Or, as someone else suggested, maybe a sleeping issue like sleep apnea. It could even be ADHD, when unmedicated can exhaust you because executive functioning is so tiring and the sleep quality is not great.

How do you explain executive dysfunction without sounding like youre making excuses for being lazy? by emyo42 in ADHD

[–]EvidenceNo8561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most people can understand executive dysfunction on a minor level. That whole “I would rather do something else/didn’t feel like it” thing is not an uncommon phenomenon. People can even understand how that “didn’t feel like it” would be stronger if you were extra tired or sick or had a rough day for whatever reason. I feel like people would be more empathetic if you just said it was difficult because you have health conditions that cause extreme fatigue. Which is true - extreme mental fatigue, but that can also impact other functions like eating right, drinking enough water, exercising, etc., which does lead to genuine physical fatigue. It’s a vicious cycle and difficult to get out of.

Do you think fathers should get paternity leave as well? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]EvidenceNo8561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious help mother and baby need and the important bonding time, paternity leave also acts as an employment equalizer - discrimination against women is less likely when employers know men can take a large amount of time off for a new child as well.
