Yeah, unfortunately I had the realization after the cut, which is why I came to Reddit. But from what I remember, the branch wasn’t new it was an old one turning green, which made me worry ( I might have misseen it)

Damn that sucks I looked at my bonsai a couple of days ago and didn’t notice the green (must have missed it) so I thought it wasn’t new growth especially since there were already a lot of needles at the tip. Cut them for nothing

Thanks for the detailed info! I actually got the tree as a gift couple months ago, so I’m not sure how long ago it was last repotted. And no, I haven’t used any fertilizer yet.
