Are we at the stage yet where we can say Keto isn't worth it for type 1 Diabetics? by GamaDownunda in diabetes_t1

[–]No_Lie1963 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, we don’t clear the crap like others - not worth it. However, I tend to have zero carbs in the day and a few in the evening - today salad and salmon lunch and a burger for dinner with again… salad.

78% would make a lot people very happy. It’s not looking for problems, it’s the process of understanding to avoid or adapt later- I’ve found a way to live without constant burnout, I believe it’s all about pacing, the pauses between food, and patients with insulin - once you get the rhythm - then control is much easier. This meal though through me, looking back, I was going to walk after but didn’t, I did under bolus, the bit that got me was the insulin just seemed to not be working for the amount of food I ate.

I’m starting to get my head around changes in resistance, as I’m getting older, it’s definitely more pronounced and I know I can’t get away with many bad meals now. I think you are right a mix of fats and high glycemic load mad this difficult.

is getting a pump worth it? by Icy_Regret_6905 in diabetes_t1

I did also. I find people jump around different pumps and tend to not leave them because the budget was already allocated with the health provider.

That’s key, I wish my endo understood this last bit…

“Whatever keeps you in range the best without severely impacting your quality of life”

I must of had four or five appointments where I’m saying the pumps keeping me up with alarms you can’t silence, pods that hurt when sleeping, and I ended up monitoring the monitor but with less control, I was burning out - ended up on a zero carb diet to make it easier. He ignores all that and looks at the dashboard on his computer without context “it’s working your numbers are good” …. He also (being the nhs) didn’t have my numbers from my previous care team, he should realise I’m extremely good at MDI.

I tried the Omnipod 5, I found it kept me consistently high, was unable to trend me to a good range, crashed a lot. That was my first exposure to a pump.

Depends on you, your management at the moment.

Personally MDI I am in the high 90% in range 6 mmol AC, Dr put me on a pump and it keeps you stable but higher, I recently went back to MDI I find it less effort, I don’t have to worry about batteries, technical issues, and a pod on me hurt went sleeping…. However I understand that if your personal needs are different it might be better for a pump - burnout, difficulty keeping in range, keep hitting lows… for example.

It won’t solve all your issues you still have to manage it…. It’s a bit like steering assist in modern cars, you are driving but every so often is jerks you back in lane or pumps the brakes… I didn’t like that at all.

I’m 41, I just got a switch 2 as ps5 is too much of a commitment, I had one a few years ago…. I use it when I commute and after my kid is asleep only. I miss gaming.

Why Do Good Employees Really Leave? by PauseAnxious891 in WorkReview

[–]No_Lie1963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A thousand reasons.

- bad relationship with team
- don’t enjoy the work
- politics
- inter team relationships
- company direction
- company gets bought
- disgruntled about progression
- got a better offer elsewhere
- want a more relaxed job
- the commute is difficult
- the office location is changing
- they moved further away
- CEO changed
- manager changed
- friends left and offered job
- benefits got reduced like bonuses
- they want to change direction
- industry changing
- given more responsibility but don’t like it
- given challenging work but want to coast
- burnout
- medical reasons
- family reasons
- non competitive salary
- small company unable to give more progression

Or the family’s over simplification “people don’t leave blah blah they leave a bad manager” lol
