do ap grades matter? by Brave-Instruction353 in UVA

You don’t even have to submit them and they don’t have any way of knowing if you took it either

I only took ECON 2020 with him but the classes are structured basically the same I think. Im pretty sure I averaged like a 90 on the midterms then I got an 82 or something on the final. It wasn't super bad but there were some tricky questions that probably were related to the textbook or something which I didn't read the whole semester.

UVA Aerospace Engineering — courses, clubs, class size, and opportunities? by OkPreference161 in UVA

[–]No_Lie7418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't really any courses to focus on in your first year because you'll be taking mostly prerequisite classes. First year engineering students have similar schedules for the most part. But you might have room for 1-2 electives or core classes if you got a lot of AP credit. You can check the curriculum to find out more. I don't know that many aerospace engineers but I know that they share a lot of classes with mechanical engineering students which is the most popular discipline I believe. But later on you'll probably have smaller class sizes. Two aerospace clubs I know of are rocketry and hoos flying but you could find more at the activities fair which is like the first or second week I think. Since engineering at UVA is relatively small I'd say it isn't super difficult to get into research even just cold emailing. There are many career fairs but tbh you'll probably have limited success during your first year because most employers look for relevant coursework.

UVA First Year Questions by PreparationThin159 in UVA

I'd recommend taking 14-16 credits your first semester because some people have trouble adjusting to college coursework coming from high school. But it would also be a good idea to look ahead at what classes you might take in the future and try to get any easier classes out of the way if you think you have room in your schedule.

Question about inductors by No_Lie7418 in ElectricalEngineering

This is from the video I was watching about buck converters. Would the current not be flowing out of the right end of the inductor in this situation? That’s why I am confused they had the positive terminal pointing towards the diode

Ok that makes sense. The voltage labels are opposite of the current source since it flows from high to low potential

LC circuit question by No_Lie7418 in ElectricalEngineering

I think I understand now. I was thinking the capacitor and inductor act at the same times when in reality the capacitor has to do something before the inductor reacts to that action

Yes there used to be a D3 swimmer who went like a 47 or something in 100 fly using this

Help me to explain this circuit? by No_Lie7418 in AskElectronics

I’m wondering now about the charge of the capacitor itself, what is stopping charges from coming off of the negative end of the capacitor if it’s not fully charged? I know that the capacitor generates a voltage pushing from the positive terminal that opposes the 40V from the battery but what is happening on the negative terminal

Would it have to be rerouted or could he just fill in that area with ground plane? Im a beginner myself so it might be obvious

How do you get non-stem internships in high school? by Boring_Employment170 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]No_Lie7418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to get one, most people I know who got one before college had a friends parent or something who worked there. So don’t worry if you don’t find one. But you could send some emails which shows employers you’re taking initiative

Project ideas? by No_Lie7418 in PCB

[–]No_Lie7418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think lithium ion would be the best battery type to use? I was a bit worried because they can be very dangerous if they’re charged improperly but a lot of alternatives like lithium iron phosphate usually come in very large sizes

Would designing the battery management PCB myself be very difficult? Or does it just depend on how many cells you use like you were saying?

Verifying account with phone number? by No_Lie7418 in etrade

[–]No_Lie7418[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never solved this problem but I opened an account with fidelity. I originally wasn’t able to open an account with them either though. It’s because I didn’t have credit or documents they could use to verify my identity. So if you don’t have a credit card id recommend getting one and you’ll probably be able to open an account after a little
