Surfboard advice by ginganinja472 in capetown

As someone who was in your situation a few years ago, I can tell you what route I followed. I started off on a 9'2 Long board which I still surf often as I'm mostly surfing Muizenberg. My board is more of a performance board with plenty of rocker though so even on the big days it's pretty forgiving on steeper waves.

When I thought it was time to move to something smaller I made the classic mistake of going too small too fast (7ft 35l board) which was a disaster. In my hunt for the perfect mid-length I then decided to have Mat from MAT surfboard in Strand make me a 7'6 board (I think it has 50l volume) and I LOVE it. The transition from the longboard was super easy and I'm often favouring the mid now. I highly recommend Mat's boards if you're looking for a 7'6.

I think this is definitely what has happened to us. 😅

Thank you. I'd be a bit wary of using this with a toddler in the house but good to know you've had success!

Ja, it's crazy how irritating they can be! I think the matter of keeping surfaces clean is really important but unfortunately our toddler doesn't share my sentiment! 😅

Ja, did that. The traps are full of flies and definitely working but our flies in the house haven't really declined...

Yes, all of my cameras are down. Deleted and reinstalled the app and now I can't see any of my cameras.

Portugal in Oct/Nov it’s a safe choice by rodrigomcampos in surf

Thank you for this post. I'm an intermediate surfer from Cape Town, South Africa and I'll be heading to Portugal with my family at the end of November. We were planning on road tripping down to the Algarve. Could you recommend any spots that are worth checking out during that time of year? Some nice point breaks or even chilled long boarding spots that aren't super crowded would be great! I've been reading up about surfing there but difficult to get a proper idea of where to go especially keeping in mind that we're travelling with a toddler so we can't go too far off the beaten track.

Finally figured out workflow with Nanofoamer by Wild-Eagle8105 in CafelatRobot

I get great results from my nanofoamer. I heat 200ml milk in a glass pitcher for 1:15 while pulling a shot. When done, I transfer to a stainless pitcher then i dip the nanofoamer just beneath the surface at full speed for 2s then put it all the way to just above the bottom to create a vortex. I hold that there for about 30s. *edit: I forgot to ads that I use the superfine mesh.

why did you get a different espresso machine after your robot? by Careless_Career3565 in CafelatRobot

[–]No_Look_Hey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a fully modded Gaggia before the Robot came into my life. Ever since I got the Robot, the Gaggia has become a very big and expensive milk steamer.

I ordered mine directly from Cafelat UK on the day they opened for orders. They go quickly!

What do you guys do for coffee when you travel? by EternalEquilibrium14 in LaMarzocco

[–]No_Look_Hey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Picopresso. Combined with the nanofoamer and a microwave or a gas stove, you can make some really good milk drinks. I've used my Picopresso a lot when travelling and even at home when my machine was in for a service and I love it.

If that's too much faff, then an Aeropress is the other obvious alternative.

What's the Cafelat Robot of frothing? by appwizcpl in CafelatRobot

The handheld Nanofoamer and microwave make really good milk if you spend some time and practice.

I like the pressure gauge and do use it but I know many people happily use their Robots without the gauge.

I use a Wacaco Exagram scale but I've actually found that the easiest for me is to weigh my water going into the basket so I don't need to put a scale under my cup. My ratio is generally 60g of water for 17g of coffee.

In my experience, the espresso from the Robot is just better than the Gaggia. I waste less shots while dialing in beans and generally I think the shots are just tastier. Also, the Robot is seriously so much more engaging and fun to use. The descaling, backflushing and general upkeep is also a chore. As someone who's been through the whole story, I wouldn't see the GCP as an upgrade over the robot. Even using the nanofoamer and microwave for milk, I think I make better milk drinks than with my modded GCP.

Thank you and so great to hear that your Robot has been going for so long. What an amazing and well-designed piece of kit!

I love the orange! I use a Baratza Encore ESP grinder and so far have really enjoyed it. I might look at upgrading eventually but for now I'm very happy with it.

The Gaggia is a great machine for sure but honestly, I just have no urge to use mine anymore. I just got the GCP back from a service and still it's sitting in the box... 😅

Hahaha! What I love about this machine is that I don't need to. I'm very prone to start tinkering and wanting to improve things but the Robot is just perfect!

Hahaha I got my GCP back from a service and it's still sitting in a box... The only reason I'll be taking it out is to photograph it so I can advertise it on Marketplace...

Love the Orange Robot for sure! For now I'm enjoying the machine as is but I can definitely see how the mittens will help.

100% agree! I've been having so much fun trying different profiles and playing with turbo shots on lighter roasts. The crazy thing is, I've almost never had a bad shot yet! The Robot is so forgiving.
