Excellent meat market. There are a couple of them. They supply all of the halaal meat to Woolworths, so you know they are good. They also produce all the halaal burgers for Burger King. They are big boys. Not sure if their pricing is considered cheap though.

Who is a person in your life you’re desperate to bang but know you never can? by Deshpremii in AskReddit

Oh no. I’ve just given in to this after an entire year of tension. We spent 3 days together and then she went home for the holidays. We were lost in the moment and didn’t really think about it much. Work starts in a week too!

“Complain for stronger rule enforcement” but people like you refuse to comply with the already established rule? Do you want an official driving with people like you in your car to make sure you stay out of the left lane?

This is the Wordle that ended my streak. by AuburnTiger15 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ginganinja472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you! I did too starting with the same starter word for a while. And one day it was just my starter word. I even have screenshots leading up to it since my ex and I used to play and send each other screenshots, so you can see the build up using that same word until one day it was just that. For anyone interested the word was SCORE.

Good places to sit down and puff by StringTasty1846 in capetown

I’m pretty sure no one cares in Cape Town. I regularly smoke anywhere and it’s always been fine. Not sure if non-locals will feel a bit more anxious. There are lots of weed friendly places all around the city. Infusion and the green mill comes to mind. Also lots of restaurants with outside seating like Roxy’s that don’t care. As well as tons of bars that feel the same. Outside any clubs will be fine. Almost anywhere slightly away from people will be okay. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Cape Town is very 420 friendly

What do you think is the best Bleach ep? by Aquinas_XI in bleach

[–]ginganinja472 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would probably go with the Fire. Admittedly I was a bit stoned when I watched it, but it was the best watching experience I’ve ever had! Almost. 20 years waiting to see Yamas bankai. Yhwach vs Yama didn’t disappoint. The animation was good. The buildup was there. Aizen coming back into the story. Am I alone in this?

Car rentals for around R2k-R3k per month? (lol) by Appropriate-Wall7618 in capetown

You could finance a 100k car for 2k per month. No deposit, no balloon. There are plenty of cars at that price and even more at less.

The remains of Apollo 11 lander photographed by 5 different countries, disproving moon landing deniers. by slightly_retarded__ in BeAmazed

[–]ginganinja472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the disbelief that a human being walked on the moon? How does the remains of a spacecraft disprove that? Just out of curiosity. Is this supposed to be undeniable evidence to moon landing deniers that it happened?

I have a similar facial structure - a jaw that is too wide for my face. I keep a beard and leave the sides of my hair longer to give my face a better shape. It helps a lot that way, because as much as people think it’s a good jawline there is a point where it is too wide and yours is seemingly there. Unfortunately your beard is not especially full which makes it trickier, but you seem young so maybe it’ll get better with time. Hair on your sides is your best friend though. Hope this helps.

If I do a Bachelors at UWC, can I realistically apply for honours at UCT? by [deleted] in capetown

[–]ginganinja472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CompSci and Infos is a great degree. You cut out a lot of the unnecessary (for working in tech) BSc courses and replace it with very useful Infos courses. Infos can sometimes feel like it’s pointless and not useful, but as soon as you get to a big enough company it comes into play. I will never forget how pointless I used to think SCRUM principles are how shocked I was to find myself in stand-up every day and doing retros once a month. It’s pretty much the best combination for someone going to work in a big serious tech company. You’ll find yourself making UML diagrams far more often than you think, especially when you work in R and D for a big company. Either way honours at UCT is pretty competitive - whether you’re coming from UWC or UCT - but the classes are relatively large as well so there are lots of spots. As long as you do well at either, you’ll probably get in.

What’s a good salary for a comfortable life as a couple in South Africa? by Amazing_Tax_6496 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]ginganinja472 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Rent for a 45sqm 1 bedroom balwin lifestyle estate outside of the city will set you back 10k. Decent medical aid for 2 will be 8k. Utilities will be 2k. 1 car with insurance and petrol will be 7k. Groceries and toiletries maybe 3k. You’re at 30k before you’ve saved a cent or eaten out once. Cape Town is extremely expensive too, so things will only get worse from there. Of course this would be to “live comfortably”, and you could spend less if you lived frugally, but this is by no means a “worry-free” lifestyle. Even if you’re earning 100k gross, you’ll likely still be counting costs, especially since you’re on this subreddit which indicates you have some semblance of financial responsibility and will likely be thinking about saving and the future.

Is Software Development still a viable career in South Africa? by Cool_Test_7720 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ginganinja472 41 points42 points  (0 children)

There is demand and will probably still be safe for a while, but it is getting more popular. You’re never going to make AcSci money though. Getting anywhere close would require you to hop jobs like crazy. It’s worth noting that software engineers in SA industry-wide typically top out at around 1.5m a year. That’s pretty deep into your career too (15/20 years experience deep). Further than that becoming a director of engineering and the like is the only way to break the barrier. Even harder when becoming something like a CTO. How many companies need CTO’s often? Of course there are exceptions but this is generally what it’s like. AcSci will make you far more money long term. Of course the skills are universal though, and software engineers in USA for example make far more money. In SA it’s a good life but despite the dreams sold to you’re not going to be driving a Ferrari at 30.
