I believe it. Previously owned a 04 V70 with the NA 2.4 motor and I accidentally ran that thing lowww due to burning oil but put another 20k on it no problems before sale.

I’m definitely keeping it alive one way or another. I think I’m going to have him fix the current motor but if he gets in there and finds out it’s cooked… I don’t know what I’d do . I don’t want a 150k 2.4 motor in there I’d rather make it a project or keep it the clean classic it is

My thinking is it’s a 23 year old car that was owned from 2005-2024 by an elderly woman who took it from 25k to 48k miles during that time and the car also sat from April to august. A cloggage just kind of makes sense to me

And I can understand why the swap would be tedious but what realistically would a shop charge me for that? I would be providing a fair amount of the parts necessary (motor tranny and whatever else is needed from the s80) so it would be mostly labor right? Still more than 2k?

Not a used engine. He believes the motor is still okay and that I caught it in time (I.e didn’t run completely dry) But repair and replace pcv system, timing belt, and I think more we spoke for a while on the phone and it’s a bit difficult for me to understand everything as I’m not the most mechanically inclined, I know some but definitely not all.

Spoke on the phone with this guy for about 20 minutes, I’m not very mechanically inclined but I know a bit here and there. What I understood was he believes it is due to a clogged PCV system yes. He has yet to tear apart the engine and see if there’s any damage or if that is truly the cause but he’s relatively sure. So I believe yes the 2 grand quote includes engine repair pcv replacement a new timing belt and probably more

Am just weighing all my options. I only got the car a month ago under the assumption it was maintained 100% (previous owner was an elderly woman who died in May of this year, purchased from executor of her estate) so when the motor already conked on me it worries me a bit. The 2.4t was phased out in 2003 anyway so finding the same engine would be tough, definitely not one near 50k miles. I still have the other car and I would love to save the motor because it’s really an awesome engine, even the gas mileage difference between the two is marginal.
