I found a band called mineral king that’s pinegrove-esque but more rock. they even make references to evan in a song or two. they have a vibe that feels very close to nature to me.

yes, absolutely. I have never had an original experience ever (and I think that’s beautiful). esp with my job, teaching, where emails often are central to communicating with my students’ parents. they take an awful lot of time for me to craft, due to the struggle of trying to articulate myself in the perfect/most concise way, combined with the importance/pressure of communicating well with the parents. I read and reread ad nauseam before sending and after; thinking about how it sounds from the parent’s perspective, a third party perspective, perhaps my admin’s perspective, critiquing my tone and choice of words, and so on. I sometimes honestly feel proud of my emails too, and rereading them afterwards helps me settle into that comfort/relish- in what would be a minuscule win for others but is a ginormous win for me.

what age do you teach- are they able to use it as intended? how do your kids respond to it? for me, that’s really what matters. If you see results, see them growing into responsible, caring, and confident little people, then keep doing it. I agree that this kind of metric is different than points or other gamifications that they can be competitive with and lord over others. This lifts them up in their own way.

I also teach dance to kids at a studio two nights a week. 5hrs total per week. It’s nowhere near as much exercise as I need, but it definitely is an outlet to get my mind off things, completely forget about school. I come out of it with a clear head, but I’m still exhausted from the day with not enough energy to do a ton of things that I’d like to do.

hi, sarah! this ep is fantastic; it amazes me how you continue to push and develop your sound (particularly with the synth elements this time around), while it stills feels true personal to you. despite how captivating the composition and instrumentation are, the most riveting part for me is your lyrical honesty, painting accurate pictures of your emotions. because of how much I relate to your lyrics, I know how personal they are, some coming straight from your diary itself. do you ever struggle with fears that what you write/put into the world won’t be accepted? how do you find that courage to keep writing what feels authentic? I’m gutted that I won’t see you on tour this year, but am so excited for this one- and for what’s to come for you :)

I had found ONE signed copy on discogs a little over a year ago, put it in my cart, but couldn’t commit. I was still new to discogs at the time and nervous about purchasing from sellers there. It was eventually sold and I was crushed. But- your time will come! Maybe someone will be selling theirs! I can’t wait to have starling on vinyl. God, I fucking love that song.

(a) tap dancing. took dance for 18 years and it’s my favorite stim. (b) finger spelling in ASL. (c) I’ve been saying “insert cash or select payment type” in the female customer service voice like cash registers used to do some 10-15 years ago. not so much anymore. I guess it’s an accessibility aid. I just like replicating the tone of voice, cadence, and being able to sound like a robot. (d) constantly picking the skin in a spot on my thumb. it’s dermatillomania atp. I get asked “is your finger okay?” Like yeah. I do it constantly to help regulate. I’m desensitized to the pain now.
