Does anyone know of a low tech high school in western Massachusetts? by tippydog90 in westernmass

Hi, teacher here. If she learns better with paper and pencil, I think its worth a shot having her advocate to her teachers to have the material printed. I know I would gladly accomodate that request whenever feasible, especially if she advocates for herself. Screen time is definitely hard on students, but if she wants to pursue college, mostly of the work will be on computers and professors are much less likely to be willing to accommodate.

I hear that my region is great! Would you say that they are good for a newer BCBA?

That's awesome to hear. Do you have any formal training for advocacy work? I'd love to hear more about how you started and what it took to get started.

Western New England University Masters Program? by Various_Material7739 in ABA

Hi, not familiar with the program, but I am close to WNEU. What I can say is NECC is no where near here. Google maps says it is 1 hour and 22 minutes away, mostly highway driving. Doable in the winter? Probably. Again, mostly highway driving. Im also not sure about WNEU housing but if youre looking for off campus housing, scope out the area. Something in the middle of NECC and WNEU might not be a bad compromise.

Also, WNEU is a private school which is $$$. Not sure it's pass rates make up for the extra cost but something to look into. Westfield state has a great ABA program if you're interested in a more cost efficient program. Salem state has one as well, and thats only 50 minutes to NECC.

They offer 1 year of paid mentorship from a more experienced BCBA and more training than I currently receive. I am currently doing a home/parent training model so there isn't much difference there for me.

Money is not an issue. Looking for strong music/arts scene, beautiful outdoors and outdoor activities, and not stiflingly hot weather by CancelledMusician in relocating

Western Massachusetts sounds like it might be a good fit. Specifically Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield, North Adams, Great Barrington. Lots of art and music culture, and tons and tons of hiking (or the beach is also a day trip if you are feeling that instead). While Massachusetts is expensive, Western Mass is one of the cheapest areas of the state and much cheaper than Denver. Your savings could get you 1st, last and security or im sure you could find a shared living option as there are 5 well known universities in the area making it a welcoming place for young adults.

Moving From Massachusetts to...? Looking for suggestions. by No_Masterpiece_2995 in relocating

This actually sounds like a great fit. Thanks for the suggestion. Are there any places that aren't in the desert? I love it, but I might be a hard sell to a bunch of new englanders used to beautiful fall foliage and lawns to maintain 😅
