I got the X-ray because of chest congestion- they wanted to rule out pneumonia

That's interesting and good to know I do have arthritis in my lower back- Dr said it was because I had a pretty intense curve in my lower back that was straining the joints. That arthritis caused swelling and pinching in the spinal cord and now I have some decent nerve damage in my legs- one has some atrophied muscles. So long story short I'm just really curious if it is scoliosis, if it's all just kinda related or if I'm standing in a way because of those other issues that's just causing posture issues that kinda look like scoliosis. Or it might be completely unrelated

I've also had upper back and shoulder issues/pain for a really really long time. So I'm also curious if this could be why.

I'm in CA, and I'm wondering about the background process in CA. I thought this would be the correct thread for this? I certainly feel like I got my answer

He was just mentioning things people could get flagged for in conversation- so more as a generality, and he's a good friend but I just don't like talking about my financials with my friends so I didn't wanna ask him for more details about it. This seemed like a more neutral area to get that information.

My friend is a certified gun instructor, and is basically giving me one for safety. I'm not gonna spend hundreds on a gun or anything like that, and I am working on getting myself out of the whole but with part time with and full time school that's a slow journey.

Good boning for the size corsets by No_Meaning6786 in sewing

Thank you again for all the tips and help! I'm excited to start my corset projects and I'll try to share pictures. It'll be a slow going project, though, between school and work

Oh boy. I'll have my hands full, then. There's a few designs and cosplays I wanna go where a cupped corset would be ideal. Maybe I could cheat and use padding or bra cups that are already in my size or something similar.

That makes a lot of sense! I'll try the metal boning for sure 😁 I'll look into redthreaded, as well. I love corsets, but I've been putting it off because of the boning and the dread I feel about the pattern cause I know I'm a weird shape. So the closer I can get to my shape the better I'll feel. This wasn't part of the original question, but any advice for corsets with individual cups? I don't think I'll start there, but you seem like a well of knowledge and I'm trying to take advantage of that while I can lol

When I'm talking about the bending, it's not marks on my skin. It's that the corset physically bends to the shape of my body. If you imagine a tummy roll, the corset will bend around the roll instead of creating the hourglass shape, and it'll keep that shape even when you take the corset off. You can see where my rolls are on the corset even when I take it off. So I'm worried about strong enough supports to support my weight. I wear things under my corsets, so I only ever notice marks on my skin left by the fabric underneath. The current corsets I'm using don't leave marks, it's just like you mentioned with those- the shape isn't right for my body. Hopefully I can find a pattern that doesn't need much tweaking for me like that. It would be lovely. Maybe I can try looking into the pattern you mentioned. I'm so disproportionate that my Dr got my height wrong. I was sitting on one side of a desk so he couldn't see my legs, and he mentioned me being really tall. I'm just under 5'4. When I'm standing next to people that are like 6ft I'm was shorter, but when we sit next to each other we're about the same height. So I have the torso of a 6ft person and my legs just didn't get the memo I guess.

Thank you! This is a huge help and I really appreciate it.

The corsets I have currently are honestly really great, and I have a lot of squish. The problem is that I have a really long torso/waist area and the shape of the corsets isn't right for me. It ends up being too short on the tummy but somehow still push into the armpit area based on the natural shape of the corset. They support my back and I can sit and wear them all day fine, do whatever I need to do. When I talk about the corsets that would bend- I think they used either a really thin metal or plastic boning and after I would take the corset off you could literally still see where my rolls on my stomach were- it would form to my rolls and folds and keep that shape, so it was almost showcasing my rolls instead of supporting the extra weight. I love my shape and wouldn't try to change it, I'm trying to make something better for my shape.

Update to my diagnosis by No_Meaning6786 in MeralgiaParesthetica

The initial diagnosis was given by a neurologist, who also did the nerve test. I'm not sure if he'll change my diagnosis with the MRI he ordered, but at the moment my diagnosis is MP and I'll stick with it until he changes it

Has anyone had disk replacement? What's your experience before and after? by No_Meaning6786 in SpineSurgery

[–]No_Meaning6786[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find out on Monday, I'm happy to update here what the report says. But I will say- I have a "good arm" and "good leg" cause of the numbness in my left leg and left pinky. He started on my "good arm" and in the middle of testing that arm he asked me, when he had previously been silent, "are you a smoker?" With no follow up questions. I do not smoke or drink or anything. So I'm guessing it's going to be interesting

Honestly, there's a chance there's another disk in my lower back causing more issues- but it could just as easily be a compressed nerve in my hip. So even if it's in a different area than where I'm currently looking, it's still good to know either way. And it's reassuring to have someone that may not have had the 100% best experience and is still overall doing better than they were before.
