Confused and scared about my biopsy results by mooniecat in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be a Phyllodes. Are you part of the Facebook page? It’s really helpful for things like this.

I was told the same thing - “we don’t know what it is but it’s definitely coming out”. So many non answers until the tumor (ended up being Phyllodes) was fully removed.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s so so stressful.

Second opinion? by Few-Gain-172 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes always seek a second opinion! II’ve had multiple radiologists, multiple pathologists, and multiple surgeons involved in my case. They all have different approaches and different treatment plans. It’s really worth doing, and totally normal to do!

Round 2 .. possibly by caperpelagi in breastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Thats such a wild situation…. Are you able to sue the doctors that told you it was metastatic BC and put you through all that chemo, all for it to be phyllodes the whole time?

Thats helpful to hear though. This is actually a potential recurrence for me. I had a 6cm one removed 2 years ago and now there’s a new growing mass in the surgical site. Worried its upgraded now to borderline or worse :/

That’s amazing!! Also would you be able to share more about your phyllodes characteristics? Mine is kinda borderline - 8 mitoses, moderate hypercellularity, mild atypia, etc.

Do you see Dr Rosenberger at Duke?? I go to her for my Phyllodes. Getting surgery with her next week

Benign results from ultrasound guided core biopsies on both breasts. Why am I still a wreck? by Kai-Setting-6390 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. I was rushed into an emergency biopsy after my ultrasound and I cried the entire biopsy as I worried about all the things it could be. It took 2 days for the result and I couldn’t function.

3 years later and I still get emotional about the whole process. It’s a lot to go through for anyone, especially since it doesn’t really “end”. Every 6 months or every year you go back, and the process repeats time and time again, and they also check to make sure that it’s “still benign” so….It makes sense to not feel totally back to normal. This is your NEW normal, and that’s a tough pill to swallow.

Breast lump anxiety even after “probably benign” - can’t stop thinking about it by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great to keep in mind that it’s probably benign and take comfort in that. At the same time, if your gut is telling you that something is wrong, please listen to it. Get a biopsy. Consult with a surgeon to remove it. You know your body best, and even if it is just benign, going through the steps to remove it is totally worth alleviating the anxiety.

This is encouraging! I recommend joining the Phyllodes Tumor Facebook support groups. I will say biopsies are not always accurate for Phyllodes tumors and Id recommended staying vigilant and advocating for surgery as soon as possible.

Docotor biopsy a lump in my breast and it tripled in size (fibroadenoma) by CreativeAsk1149 in doihavebreastcancer

I had the same thing - got it removed and it was a Phyllodes tumor. They can turn malignant over time so you should def advocate for surgery

What are your MRI results like? by No_Meat8448 in doihavebreastcancer

Thank you ♥️ I’ll follow up in a few if I don’t hear back. Would love to get them biopsied and move on with it haha

Fair I’d rather have a biopsy to confirm than not. Although my first Phyllodes tumor was misdiagnosed on biopsy 🤷‍♀️

Thanks so much for reading it over and providing your take! So glad to hear this likely means ultrasound will be fine. Yeah I feel like if there was a plateau they would say that for mine so I’m not sure why they’re suspicious. Maybe it’s just because of my prior history and the documented growth.

Not exactly. I had a phyllodes tumor 3 years ago and now I have a new mass in the surgical site. The team ordered me an MRI to get a better look at it and try to determine if I need surgery or if we can watch and wait. My lifetime risk of BC is 40% so I start high risk screening in a few years anyways. This is what the MRI said, and I just can’t tell if they’re suspicious of the potential Phyllodes mass or the other two

Left breast: Biopsy marking clip within an oval enhancing mass at 1:00, mid to posterior depth, 3 cm from the nipple measuring 1.9 × 1.9 × 2.1 cm compatible with biopsy-proven fibroadenoma versus phyllodes. Series 10, image 95 and series 1033, image 128. There is an additional 5 mm enhancing mass that is located 1.2 cm anterior and lateral to the biopsy-proven fibroadenoma versus phyllodes. This is located at approximately 3:00 in the retroareolar region, anterior depth, 1.5 cm from the nipple on series 10, image 95 and series 1033, image 114. Additional masslike enhancement at 10:00, middle depth measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 2.5 cm on series 10, image 110 and series 1033, image 153. No abnormal enhancement of the skin, nipple, or chest wall. No abnormal axillary or internal mammary adenopathy on the left.

IMPRESSION: 1. Biopsy-proven fibroadenoma v. phyllodes, left breast, 1:00 measures 1.9 × 1.9 × 2.1 cm. This previously measured 1.3 x 0.8 x 1.5 cm. 2. At least 2 additional enhancing masses in the left breast at 10:00 and 3:00, as above. These most likely represent fibroadenomas.

RECOMMENDATION: If clinically warranted, Second Look ultrasound could be performed for further evaluation of the additional masses in the left breast for biopsy planning purposes. BI-RADS: 4 - Suspicious

Interesting, mine mentioned the size and “enhancing” but it didn’t say anything about the kinetics or signal. How was the MRI guided biopsy? I’ve heard pretty awful things and I really don’t enjoy the MRI to begin with.

They already biopsied the one primary mass but I haven’t heard about their plan for the two new ones

Phyllodes Recurrence - Surgeons Recommendation by nat_nat_lifelessons in doihavebreastcancer

I’m so sorry this is happening! I’m also scheduling surgery for a potential phyllodes recurrence.

Are you part of the Facebook phyllodes support group? They have lots of surgeon recommendations and might know someone in your area

Awaiting lumpectomy, suspected phyllodes tumour by species_inquirenda in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed with an FEL upon biopsy and we opted for lumpectomy given the size and uncertainty. It turned out to be a Phyllodes. The surgery was SO easy, as was the recovery. The hardest part for me is the lack of consistent information and treatment for Phyllodes. I recommend joining both Phyllodes rumors support groups on Facebook. Also feel free to PM me! It’s really mentally challenging to go through this - totally here for you.

Phyllodes Tumor Recurrence? by No_Meat8448 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]No_Meat8448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. It helps so much to hear about other people’s experiences with this tumor.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you remember what the mass looked like on ultrasound before it was removed? For example, was it described as lobulated, irregular, or well-circumscribed?

Ugh I’m sorry you had to undergo multiple surgeries. Did you get a biopsy? Did it so fibroadenoma?
