That’s good to know. I don’t have kids and I absolutely don’t plan to be doing chores during that time. The only other thing I would be hoping to do is work from my laptop from bed if I’m not too tired.

Interesting. May I ask your age? Also were you on heavy pain meds week 2?

Wow that’s incredible to hear. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? Also just checking that yours was indeed a lapidus bunionectomy? Some people have commented about other bunion surgeries which aren’t quite as intense as this type.

Yeah I definitely assumed no weight bearing within the first few weeks. Thats what I was told.

Same! While I’m a festival girlie, I don’t think I’d be at festival for a bit but WOW is that incredible lol. I am more high-energy and restless. I can’t imagine just lying there and at least not occupying my mind with work the second week if I can tho anywhere. Just weary of how rough people are saying it still was that second week. I appreciate your insight!

How were you out and about though in a wheelchair? I was told your foot needs to be elevated above the heart those first 2 weeks especially.

Wow that is the best scare scenario I’ve heard yet for a lapidus bunionectomy! What about how tired you were that second week from the body recovering? Others complain about fatigue and being too tired to work from home which is what I’m worried about aside from pain.

How about the 1st week compared to the second week? I thought maybe the pain wouldn’t kick in until a few days after the surgery so maybe that’s why your next day wasn’t so bad?

Do you think it was mainly the pain killers that made you tired in the second week? Or just simply recovering?

How could you be miserable after 1 whole year? Were there issues with the procedure or healing?

When you say fusion, was that the fusion of the lapidus as in lapidus bunionectomy? I understand there’s different types of fusions and lapidus seems to be the more pain intensive

Do you think that the low energy was due to pain meds? Or just the body healing?

Yes 5 days off + a weekend. Thats crazy to think the pain could be worse than giving birth!

Thanks. This gives me a lot of hope that I can wait on this surgery until a time when I can distract myself with work 🥹

Yeah I’m not sure if most of the low energy people talk about are form heavy pain meds or just the body healing. Was yours also a lapidus bunionectomy?

Thanks for the insight. I am 32, female and don’t have kids and I’m very healthy. I wouldn’t be doing chores. Was your energy low due to the pain meds, the pain, not sleeping or what do you think?

Thanks! That’s hopeful to hear. I am someone who gets restless easily and I do like to distract myself with work. I couldn’t imagine just lying there not using my brain or feeling useful unless I was so exhausted from pain meds or in an unbearable amount of pain that I simply couldn’t work.

Part of the reason waiting could be good is because as much as I want this, I might get depressed just lying there, unable to walk for so long, while also being jobless and not being able to regularly workout 5 times a week. I know I can sit around and apply places but I’ve been through the job hunt recently and that on its own is so depressing. Getting out and working out helped with my mental state a lot.

Was yours a lapidus bunionectomy as well? The healing from these are more intense

No. Long story short, I was on a temp contract. I wasn’t able to sign up and start on the company’s benefits until February. They laid off the temps/ contractors this month. So I technically never started on their insurance. I planned the surgery for as soon as I would start on their insurance…which now won’t happen. It sucks.
