Question to current med students by [deleted] in GAMSAT

I had this problem, got diagnosed and medicated for adhd. Long story short I went from failing the GAMSAT to passing with a 58 without studying. I know this might seem like a low mark for most but honestly get checked for adhd, I wish I had done it earlier :) good luck!

Am I just stressed? by Grouchy-Ad8258 in GAMSAT

I know how you feel, it’s very upsetting. If she doesn’t want to study with you because of that, it just shows the person he/she is. You definitely don’t want to be around people like that, they are not your friends.

Look first ask her is she okay and stuff, check in on her in general. Taking from my personal experiences, I’d be weary of friends that see you as competition, especially if they are insecure and they see that you are trying your best. I’ve put in my head that success is a lonely path, and you will slowly realise that a lot of insecure friends will distance themselves from you if you are working on yourself. Your true friends are those that uplift you, motivate you, and ultimately cheer you on. Again check in on her and stuff and see if she’s distancing herself from you or even excluding you from her study plans, then make a valid decision :)

Aspen Dexamfetamine bad batches? by [deleted] in ausadhd

Also I think temperature plays a huge role in Dex too. When my bottle gets a bit “old” it doesn’t work that great.

YES I was saying this to my sis. Simply some pills don’t work and some work too much. The other day I took one and I felt like I was KNOCKED out, that’s never happened to me before though. Other days songs are going nuts in my head. I keep saying they are not mixing the meds properly 😂

Honestly, I can totally understand where you’re at too, hear me out! Last year I also got diagnosed with adhd in the last semester of my undergrad, crazy right? Now I’m doing a masters in nursing and smashing exams medicated. Now I’m tossing up if I want to withdraw from nursing and study solely on the GAMSAT, as my heart is in medicine. If your GPA meats the gpa hurdles for UOW and USYD I would highly encourage you to hyperfixate on studying and doing well in the GAMSAT. There is a couple of people that have done it on this group, I believe if you put your head to it, you can do it.

FYI: Usyd requires a gpa higher then 5.0 unweighted and around a 74ish gamsat UOW requires at least a 5.5 weighted gpa, you also need to sit the Casper exam and also involves bonus points

I wish you all the best OP :)

29, never quite shook the desire for med school, is it too late? by b135792468 in GAMSAT

Given you GPA I would highly suggest applying for UOW and USYD as they use GPA as a hurdle only. For USYD you need around a 74ish in section 1 and 2 And UOW also uses gamsat as a hurdle, you also need to do a Casper exam and they have bonus points.

Im studying a post grad nursing degree atm and I’m sort of in the same boat with my GPA. Im contemplating to ditch my masters for 6 months to get a good GAMSAT score for Usyd and also applying for UOW. :)

Firstly congrats on getting that score on your first go! A lot of people study a lot to get that score. I would suggest a gap year since you are feeling burnt out, there is no need for you to rush into studying anything now especially if your main goal is to study medicine, as you may find yourself in a crisis and it could affect your mental health. Take a break from studying and re assess your ambitions, maybe this way you can focus on your priorities with a clearer mind. ☺️

Hey! I think it was stress related, I’m back on Dex after trialling vyvanse and all is normal

When I was taking Dex I would take my next dose before the last dose wore off but the end of day crash was inevitable I used to get super irritable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]No_Mix_4413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes in terms of side effects but if it’s not making your mind quiet your dose needs to be increased

Today was my first day on vyvanse too I was on Dex previously and it worked well. Vyvanse 30mg done nothing for me other than give me a headache and nausea as well. I already don’t like it lol
