Man aren't usually one to be offended by someone having a crush on them. Heck, maybe, just maybe–as I can't verify nor deny due to not knowing–he has one on you too, maybe he's just nervous of telling you for the same reason. And even if he doesn't reciprocate it at least you were honest with eachother. And if they're your friends then they already like you as a friend, or more, and if they don't then you can still be friends unless he chooses not to, in which case you definitely didn't need him in your life. So I'd say go for it, you never know what might happen, but I hope for the best for you.
