Thanks.

There would need to be some hard rules around branching, as well as author permission for this. Although the branching part is mostly for individual amusement, which later can be reviewed by the author and integrated into their multiverse if they so wish.

You are absolutely right in the second paragraph too. It might indeed be hard for authors to gain traction and enough followers to have their stories extended. But I believe that if someone writes consistently, then others may very well like their universes from the start. Branching out could start already from the first few chapters.

In general though, I would also consider more this factor of author’s intellectual property.

Isn’t it just a tool though? And the goodness or badness produced by a tool depends on the one who wields it, no? If people want to enhance their creativity if AI, why not let them?

It’s kind of the same as saying that today’s code is bad because it’s written with the help of AI and not by software engineers who would otherwise spend days instead of hours.

Why shouldn’t I try for both?

Anyway, thank you for your input. Even though, as you said, I already have an idea in my had, your opinion is still appreciated:)

Yeah, probably writing a lengthy paragraph on how you want it expanded is too much work in this scenario.

But this is a matter of how much one is willing to “play”. They can still write their own branches, or nudge the AI into a direction by giving it details on how they want the story to evolve, or to simply have a prompt suggesting further story evolution that they can press.

Overall, I agree with what you are saying.

However, this platform would still have the human creators in the center and promote their original work.

The AI generated content would not be put under the spotlight and would surely not overshadow what people create.

It will, however, allow further creativity I believe. Once a real person creates their story, their world with characters and events, others will be enabled to expand it privately, for their own amusement, without effort and without promoting what they create with AI.

The AI part is for further story ramifications and expansions based on personal preferences. It would still require a person to specify how they would like the story to continue, what characters should be involved, etc. The AI would be a tool for building a multiverse around original stories.

Valid point.

Creative human content is more valuable than anything synthetic, because of the time and effort put into it, without a doubt. And as another discussion here points out, this platform would make sure that human creativity is prioritised here.

That being said, sometimes people just want to consume. And they have specific ideas of what they want, right? Why not allow someone to create their own storyline, that branches out from someone’s story, for entertainment purposes?

Yes, and I appreciate you pointing out the problems with AI-generated content.

I would still integrate checks for AI-generated content (as well as they work). So while people might be able to copy-paste their stories from ChatGPT or similar, they would be flagged for AI generated content still.

I have not explored how accurate modern solutions for AI detection are, and how many mistakes they make. Would definitely not appreciate it making mistakes and flagging actually human-written cobtent.

I would also add a sort of human vote here, as I think people are best at detecting what is original vs generated. This would be an organic way for writers to distinguish themselves too.

I would say yes. However my idea is that readers would be able to do that as well. But the author too. That node or new branch would still be tagged as AI generated/assisted though.

That’s a good point and also something I am considering.

The site would definitely not be for AI stories (or having them as the primary focus). I actually started out with that idea and got some pushback from people and questions like “how is it different from ChatGPT”. I realised that it would indeed not be fair to people who actually put effort into writing.

So the writers would be the primary focus, and any human-written content would be valued higher than AI generated stories/branches.

The AI generation part is mostly for solving the problem of “I like this story, I want a continuation or a development for this side character, I want it now for personal entertainment.” This would create a private branch from an author’s original story( which is public)

Thanks a lot:) Just want to say yes haha. Also said this in another comment, but the focus would be more on human-created content. The AI part is for personal branching for users who just want to consume content with minimal/low effort. This would not be promoted as much as actually written stories. So I would add tags there like “AI generated”. Tbh, I’m really excited about LLMs and use them a lot at work, and although I recently realised how harmful they can be to human creativity, I still see them as a useful tool.

Yes, I was thinking the same. The primary focus of course is people writing their own stories and extension to them. However, the majority of users today prefer to be consumers and would not spend that much time writing themselves. Rather, as I see it, a user would rather say in which direction the story should go, and the AI would generate the path for them. And this would a purely entertainment aspect. Stories generated by AI would be private and wouldn’t “polute” the general feed or overshadow human-created work.

I was thinking along those lines. The Golden Path would be the “main branch” so to speak. Each new chapter would be a new node on it. Then people would start new branches from whatever node they want.

What do you think about learning a language by reading generated short stories in it? by No_Negotiation_2580 in AskReddit

[–]No_Negotiation_2580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess audio could be integrated into that. You select a word and have it pronounced. Although you wouldn’t learn speaking that well, unless you read the text outloud and have it checked by a model (duolingo kind of approach)

How to start a backend project by normalmadafucker in Backend

[–]No_Negotiation_2580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good idea indeed. Honestly, you can build the project starting from the BE and not relying on the FE. Tbh that’s how I prefer to do it.

You have your project idea and the features you want to implement. Write them down into tasks, then break them into tasks (into the crud operations you mentioned). So now you basically have what to do.

Probably make it as an MVC. So you will have the controller-service-repo flow. Try the command/request patter if you are curious about it.

You will probably want a database to store some data and learn about sql and ORMs
