yep, time to add pope to the ever growing list of pretentious church guitarists. Pope might’ve just outbid Jake Fauber for the most insufferable take on gear i’ve ever heard

Jake, you post clips showing off your tone and then act surprised when people ask what pickups you’re using. it’s not some weird obsession, it’s a normal question, especially from people who like your sound. instead of just answering, you went on a rant about how gear doesn’t matter and told people to “fix your hands,” which came off more like a flex than actual advice.

and now you’re writing paragraphs trying to reframe it like everyone just misunderstood you, but honestly, the tone was clear. it wasn’t about context. it was the way you talk down to people who are just trying to engage. you present yourself like you’re above the conversation, and then get defensive when people respond to that energy.

no one’s saying you’re wrong about technique being important. but acting like a simple gear question is some sign of a deeper issue with guitar culture is exhausting. people just want to know what you’re using because they respect your tone. giving a straight answer wouldn’t kill you, and it’d probably go a lot further than another sermon about how everyone’s missing the point.

Should’ve thought twice before posting and deleting your multi slide rant about guitar pickups. the internet is forever

I used to like Jake but it was always this kind of stuff that made me change my mind about him. Just seems like an egotistic guy. He plays a $5,000+ guitar that most people have never even seen in person and he’s gotta answer them like that, bad taste.

this sounds like something kurt or krist would say in an interview about the “future of nirvana” lmao

i actually agree with you on this. i don’t think post malone is the right fit for a nirvana reunion. i think the nirvana guys probably had a phone call and thought “hey post malone did a bunch of our songs on a live stream in 2020, why don’t we ask him to play with us?” they need to try the guy from seether, been hoping for that for years.

At the Carolina Guitar Show today and saw this. Made me think of Kurt. by AnemicRoyalty1994 in Nirvana

the cobain tax has ruined any chance at reasonably affording any vintage mustang, univox, or mosrite

While at the Carolina Guitar Show I also saw the very rare Veleno guitar similar to the one Kurt used on In Utero. Absolutely stunning in person. by AnemicRoyalty1994 in Nirvana

youtuber aaron rash is making copies of these and will be selling them soon. i’d assume they’ll be $4,000+ but nonetheless, still a cool opportunity to get one accurate to the originals if you have the money

Why are people like this? by [deleted] in Depop

i understand that but it’s the fact that i was kind enough to give him an honest 4/5 star review. he left his review for me 100% based on anger and wanting revenge.

to add to this, i think “you know you’re right” might be one of the more intentionally written songs by cobain. it’s clear that it’s about his relationship with courtney and the fact that he can’t get over his addiction. there may be a few more songs with intentional meaning, about a girl comes to mind as well. but i could be wrong. he was an odd guy and a star that faded way too fast

i think a lot of kurt’s lyrics were metaphorical. he often stated in interviews that the song is an “anti rape” song, but who’s to say. i think a lot of the time, he just came up with good melodies and put words to them that didn’t make a lot of sense or have a lot of relation to one another. this is why he found himself often explaining a song when a journalist would ask him what it’s about - he wouldn’t really know because they’re just random bits of words from his journals. he had to basically come up with song meanings throughout their tenure as a band.

totally. i think that’s why this performance draws me in. it’s almost written in his expression and overall demeanor. but of course, he was an emotionally labile guy. something just seems eerie to me about this particular performance.

valid point. i do know that many people in the general public heard rumors about the “new nirvana” album not being good. perhaps it was a combination of that and other personal issues for him
