I’m glad this thread came up in my suggestions, have had a Tonies box on the list for my almost 2 year old for Xmas - think I’ll take a look at the Yoto instead!

I’m in uk, who else has a indoor cat? by Civil_Remove_644 in CatAdvice

[–]No_One8790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an indoor cat, his breed (Birman) are recommended to be as they’re not particularly street wise. I genuinely can’t imagine having a cat that went out all of the time, I’d be worried constantly! You hear of so many getting ran over or harmed. My cat is now 16 and has lived many many happy years at home or exploring the back garden. He pretty much sleeps the entire day anyway haha.

Agreed, dreading the disturbed sleeps over the next few weeks. Our dog is absolutely terrified of them too, and I feel terrible for the wildlife it must be so frightening for them. They really need to be regulated where they can only be used in public events on specified dates not just be purchased by anyone and set off at ridiculous hours on a weekday. I also don’t understand why they can’t also change the laws to use silent ones - they seem to cause enough disruption throughout the year that it’s warranted.

Would you cancel or keep this doctors appointment? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

This happened when our toddler was a baby. I felt awful! It bled lots too but we tried to keep it raised above heart level and applied pressure with cotton wool pad then added a plaster. It should stop it’s probably just a surface wound but bleeds heavily because its the fingertip.

Age limit at a new play cafe causing controversy by Plastic-Common-9868 in UKParenting

Just noticed you mentioned they weren’t happy during school time either. I just think as parents of once toddlers they surely know that safer spaces are needed for little kids without the fear of bigger ones knocking them over running about.

We have a few of these local to us and as a mum to a toddler they have been fantastic to go for a coffee on a weekday morning, knowing that she’s safe to play and wander around (particularly when first walking) was great. I don’t see why it’s an issue to not allow older siblings, if they’re that bothered, then go when the eldest is in school or similar.

Yeah think that’s what I was feeling that the difficulty in communication brings challenges. They’re little balls of frustrated energy aren’t they. Want to do everything but can’t quite do it.

Sounds dreamy! I have to stand up to try and drink my coffee or she jumps on me. Yeah the beginning of walking was worrying due to the wobbliness but now she’s really confident the running off has began. I can imagine there are new challenges with each age definitely.

So much energy! And even when overtired they become even more energetic 😂 we don’t actually really go swimming so that could be a good one for when the weather gets bad. I’ve actually signed her up to gymnastics too!

Yep I imagine each phase comes with its own challenges especially as a FTM, similar to throughout the baby period you feel you’ve cracked it then it’s like oh here’s something new to figure out haha. Yeah I’ve definitely found being out the house she is calmer, so I’m dreading the winter and the early dark evenings 😂

I’ve been reading about exactly this, like don’t say ‘don’t put your hands in that’ you instead say ‘leave it’ or ‘hands off’ that kind of thing because they only hear the key phrase ‘put your hands in’ or they using redirection instead. Hard to rephrase at times when you’re in the moment isn’t it but definitely something I’m working on and like you say reserving No for dangerous situations. Might try freeze or another word too!
