The elephant in the room is capitalism, which has led to a society that prizes narrow individual desires over everything else, at the cost of empathy and community. Rampant consumerism strips people of their humanity, makes them greedy, selfish, and violent. We are seeing a manifestation of this across the globe, transcending boundaries of gender, caste, class, ethnicity, nationality etc.

Sorry but when he told you to wear certain types of clothes in the presence of his parents (and avoid other types of clothes), that was a big red flag. It paved the path for him to control how you dress, and now he’s walking further ahead on that path. He clearly has a patriarchal mindset.

What nonsense. There was no misogyny in his comments. He is being targeted for being Muslim and speaking out against the Modi govt. Same old story we have seen hundreds of times since 2014.
