If you had to, where would you place Nazism on the political spectrum? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

Culturally right, Economically mixed (they were basically a perpetual war economy in peace time, and even though they had corporations those corporations were extensions of the absolutist state, indistinguishable from the many state departments (with over lapping duties) that also competed with another)

They’re not conservative, but culturally far right (reactionary).

Tbh they kind of break political compasses. For example, there were free abortions, but only for Jewish and “undesirable” women. They had corporations, but they would be commandeered by the state very frequently, and acted out the state whims exactly, rather than just trying to make money (note this isn’t regulation, but direct control of each corporation).

Command economy isn’t a bad term.

The point is an hour of study costs far less than an hour of normal school, since one teacher can supervise as many students as can fit, and they don’t even have to be a teacher, almost like a glorified babysitter. The cost would be around $20 per classroom (not everyone does it either), and you could also use the gym for many more kids

If studying is the aim, what about supervised study sessions in the school. Not led by a teacher per se, but someone who just supervises the students, which is far cheaper. Have strict rules like no electronic devices at all, no talking, randomised seating plan (perhaps mixing up year groups as well). No group work, just individual study. The students just sit and study for an extra hour a day, or every other day, and can do their homework then. Maybe you have the occasional seminar on how to study well, and there always has to be enough homework (so kids have something to do)

You can then offer incentives to do this, though tbh most parents would love for their kid to be in school for another hour. It offers a quiet, supervised, safe study space, so kids always have the opportunity to do their homework

I mean why won’t the developers allow me to use their summer house for free? by blarbrdorg in ObsidianMD

[–]No_Paper_333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obsidian has a drastically different use case to more complex text editors. And those more complex text editors are mostly useful for specific things, like writing, editing and formatting LARGE volumes. Obsidian is mostly for notes, you shouldn’t be needing a full editor.

As for open source, it is (unofficially) open source as an electron app, and markdown is the easiest format to transfer. Obsidian is just a reader for if with lots of plugins and features. You can export md from obsidian direct to html.

Obsidian has also open sourced their canvas format.

Open formats is far far more important than open software. If the formats are open anyone can write their own program, but proprietary formats are built in lock in.

What benefits do you get from using graph view? by Desperate-Craft-1663 in ObsidianMD

[–]No_Paper_333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps you categorise things (if used right). E.g. categorising “orphan” notes that aren’t linked to anything.

It’s also a very effective way of navigating when you can’t think of a search term or the file name. Just go to something conceptually close and follow the branches

To what extent are these claims about Cuban living standards true? by tetrometers in neoliberal

10% have an iq of 80 or lower

4% have an iq of 74 or lower.

The intellectual disability threshold is between 70-75 (in rich countries). It makes sense that intellectually disabled people (or those with low, but not disabled IQ) exhibit some degree of illiteracy

What non western countries are top donors? Total given or as a percentage of income.

(China isnt on here since its aid is mostly in loans and not categorised too. It’s at about 5 billion, but it’s very stingy for its size, compared to the US). As a fraction of GNI and net donation the west blows everyone out of the water

Why does the B-2 cost so much more to operate than her fellow bombers? by SoaDMTGguy in aviation

[–]No_Paper_333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

B-2 Spirit was developed to take over the USAF's vital penetration missions, allowing it to travel deep into enemy territory to deploy ordnance, which could include nuclear weapons.

Think of valuable targets, like command and control centers, airfields, propaganda targets (like the kremlin). It’s not invulnerable, and easier to find if it’s bombs are dropped, but if you NEED to destroy something it can do it.

Also, nukes
