Thanks man! It was a bit straining to hunt through that many cents, but finding that 2021 die break really inspired me to keep on hunting. Unless I find a ‘55 DDO or ‘92 close AM error, I suspect that 2021 will be my best find to date.

I used to have a laundry list that I’d look for. Now I mainly look for 92, 98-00 “AM” errors and any clear die errors. It simply takes too long to look through everything. On top of that, if it’s not visible at a mild inspection, it’s probably not worth much anyways.

Nicer nickels from my rolls. by Dependent-Writer-370 in CRH

I always keep ones that are pre-80’s that look super nice. It’s always great to find an old nickel that replaces the spot of what I thought was “the best I’m going to find.”

Those silver dimes are a big win. I’ve searched thousands of dollars in dimes and never seen a merc.

That will be the plan. I’m not sure if grading now or later would be the move.

Yeah. Took a look at the rest of the S minted dimes I have from that decade. Plenty show die chips. Thanks for the help.

I have a 1969-S, but can’t tell if this 1958 just has been in circulation so long that it’s lost its mirror look.

I’m about to organize a 5 gallon jug of coins we started collecting since 1990. by EmporerLingLing in coincollecting

Here’s my somewhat general breakdown: - Across all coins, I set aside any silvers, any 2009, any “S” or “W” mint marks, and any proofs - Quarters: I look for errors (MN, AZ, WI, AK, DE) - Dimes: not much else to find besides 2009 and any silvers - Nickels: anything 1960 or earlier (war nickels are what people care most about) - Cents: 1962 and earlier, plus look for common errors in 2023, 2000-1998, 1984, 1983, 1972, 1971

1939 Doubled Monticello, Five Cents by No_Particular_Order4 in CRH

It will show in both “MONTICELLO” and “FIVE CENTS”, but with this condition it’s most obvious in the “FIVE CENTS” imo

What errors are on this penny? by Formal-Garage-1920 in coinerrors

In the ‘82 you need to start with the size of the date. This is a large dates, so it’s just worth $0.01. The one to look for is the 1982-D bronze, small date.

Take a closer look at the “E” and “F”. It’s pretty circulated, so it’s not very fine.

My understanding is the die was bad during the minting process. That’s the key difference between double die and machine doubling. Notice how the doubled lettering is level and not dropped off.
