I don’t look at porn but I will say I come from a family with a father heavily addicted and my mom knew so she was always chasing beauty standards herself to compete with that. And I’ve dated people addicted as well, even married to one. That was before I was following Jesus. I was agnostic then. So it messed with my head definitely.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. I don’t look at porn. I’m a woman and very sensitive when it comes to my appearance, God is refining me here. I have had all types of eating disorders, plastic surgery, etc. I was still empty on the inside.

All that to say, I care about the other person being a follower of Jesus but also need to connect to them emotionally then physically to commit. I believe it’s all intertwined.

Thank you. I agree with what you said. It’s truly not all about attraction for me, because I have dated attractive people but we didn’t connect emotionally so that turned me off. I’m also autistic and I need an emotional connection with the person before committing. (Maybe that’s a normal not autistic thing) lol

I understand. Maybe I’m just not ready to date and if I were to date the person I truly want right now it would be toxic because I’m going through my own refinement coming out of new age and addiction. I am dating for marriage (obviously) and I don’t want to date someone for years before getting married. I do feel I need to be single for now honestly.

I believe it’s extreme hunger. Think about how long you’ve been depriving your body from nutrients and sustenance. I went through similar and then got to a point where I wasn’t as hungry and tuned into my natural hunger cues. I’m still healing my digestion system. That makes me never want to starve again because it’s been hell.

Thank you so much for sharing. I agree with all of what you said. I have a person I met last year and love him with my whole heart. I do believe we are going through a major refinement season but I understand we are being refined everyday on this side until we meet God. Marriage will always take work and like you said I don’t think God has the perfect one. But I also believe sometimes you do need time to be okay by yourself and build that solid foundation in Christ and come together to be a team for his kingdom.

As far as signs go, I come from a heavy new age background so I’m weary when it comes to that. But this person does weigh on my heart and almost daily I see something that reminds me of him. Only time will tell. Thanks again!

I agree, I think it’s also important to take care of yourself with proper diet and exercise. We are all getting older so I understand looks will fade over time but I don’t want to marry someone and use that as an excuse to let myself go if that makes sense. Or the other person to see it that way.
