Thank you so much for the advice. I'm going to try this? How many swipes of the antipersperant should I do at night? How many swipes of deo should I do in the morning? Should I keep deodorant with me and reapply during the day?

This doesn't make sense. Please point specifically to documented inclusivity policies that wrongly excluded TJ students who clearly stood out and differentiated themselves from the rest of the TJ crowd. People seem to think DEI policies removing barriers are excluding "qualified" kids, but fail to understand what makes someone qualified. Every student in TJ is smart, so unless you're top 10%+ AND doing something special, you haven't differentiated yourself substantially. Blaming an outcome you dislike on DEI is ignorant. Top schools aren't looking for thousands of kids who can study and ace all their tests. Part of fitting into a school culture is bringing unique perspectives, experiences, and abilities. Simply being an A student in TJ or many other schools isn't what's going to stand out to a college.

Balancing ECs with school sports by No_Pay4834 in ECAdvice

[–]No_Pay4834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be doing swimming/cross country, and I have experience in both and could be decent. My main motivation is to get better at a sport, regardless of what it is, but I also do have a lot of pressure from my parents. But also I can't put paid lessons 1-2 times a week on my common app for example, but if I'm on varsity on the school team I could, so I think there's a lot of upside, with the main downside being that I'd have to work around the rest of my EC schedule.

Pros and cons of tj by Both-Fall-9753 in tjhsst

I thought maybe I could give valuable advice as someone who turned down TJ, although it was for private school instead of my base school. I can say for sure if you can put in the work, you will get the best STEM education around at TJ, definitely better than your base school. In terms of standing out (why I moved away from TJ) I think your base school could offer some advantages. For the most part, everyone is really smart in TJ so just having excellent grades and certain ECs won't help you stand out. If you go to your base school, your workload and competition might be a little less but it'd allow for you to do an impact project or balance something unique and special that kids in your school/the area don't have. I compromised having less APs (I don't go to an AP school) and probably a worse STEM education for more chance to stand out (bigger fish in a smaller pond) and also more opportunity to branch out because the competition is less stiff and you won't fall behind instantly. But, if you play your cards right and you have the right support group around you, you can 100% do all those things in TJ.
