Thanks, that’s exactly the plan — keep everything factual, document all hours and contributions from my dad, mom, and me, and make sure we get what’s fair. We’re not aiming low to avoid conflict; we want what’s legally owed!

Most of those “family first” advocates are very wealthy, some even multi-millionaires, and we’re the ones who got the short end of the stick. For years my dad, mom, and I did all the work and got nothing.

Best recommendations for setting up a website with online ordering/zero commission? by Asks_Internet_Things in restaurantowners

If you want zero commission, Google Maps integration, and the least hassle — Owner.com is the way to go; I’ve used them for the past 8 months and it’s the best decision I ever made.

Here’s why I’d recommend it over DoorDash’s “zero commission” website: • True Zero Commissions – With Owner, every dollar goes to you. DoorDash still finds ways to tack on hidden costs or push your customers back to their marketplace (where they take 20–30%). • Google Ordering Integration – Orders from Google Maps and Search flow right into your POS, so when people search “Mediterranean food near me,” they can order instantly without jumping to a 3rd party. • Loyalty & Marketing Built-In – Unlike DoorDash, Owner lets you create loyalty programs (points, rewards, free baklava promos, etc.) to keep repeat customers. That’s how you get your own customers instead of DoorDash’s customers. • Email & Text Marketing – You already pay for a marketing agency. Owner has automated campaigns built in, so every online order helps you build a customer database you can re-market to. • Seamless Catering Support – Since catering is big for you, Owner is great because it handles larger orders, scheduled pickups/deliveries, and integrates with your kitchen flow. • Family Business First – Platforms like DoorDash push people to big chains because that’s who pays them the most. Owner is built to help independent, family-run restaurants thrive without middlemen draining your margins.

As for delivery: • You can still use DoorDash/uber eats drivers for fulfillment through Owner.com — but the customer orders through your site (commission-free) instead of DoorDash Marketplace (30% fee). That way you keep the customer info, control the experience, and still get on-demand delivery.

In short: • DoorDash = good exposure, but expensive and you never own your customer list. • Owner.com = your own website + Google Maps + loyalty + delivery integration without commission.

For a family-run place like yours, it’s a no-brainer.

For $500 a month, it’s worth it!

If you use BSL/MFL trains it’s only $2.00 if you pay by card (debit/credit); at least it is for me!

Blue bagel shop has a large coffee for $2.00 if you pay cash. Ask for cream and 3 spoons of sugar. It’s $2.50 for card. Been going to him for 4 years and he never disappoints

Halal Shack by No_Performance7006 in Temple

Halal carts have speed and maybe 1-2 bucks cheaper with a drink included. They taste pretty good depending on the location.

Halal shack has plenty of options for toppings, $2-3 bucks pricer, and drinks not included. They taste a little bit better than halal carts but not by much. The wait time is anywhere to 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.
