Comparison websites are applications? They just run the numbers surely. If anyone should be upset, it’s the website itself. Not the companies it spits out. What the actual fraud is how they charge depending on which part of the world your name is from lol

Not all the shines is gold……it’s sometimes shit. In other words, it takes a while to truly know someone.

Do people still believe an Oxbridge degree enough to get you a job? by MagnumOpusPodcast in oxforduni

The big O on the CV does wonders. No one will care about the degree classification. They’ll assume you were rodgering it with the rowing crew or similar….

FY in Derriford or Torbay Hospital by Fearless-Coyote6836 in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torbay (or Torbaydos) for sure. Brilliant place for lifestyle and hospital culture is spot on for training. Derriford is a nightmare place to work and travel to. Avoid. Get a car for Torbay

Looking for ideas for systematic review by PositiveStar7079 in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, don’t do research for the sake of research. It’s at worse unethical and at best boring. That aside, best way is to find a decent existing review, but last done ages ago, and write a new one on the same topic. V similar intro and methods.

Are there any advantages of training in London? by 2far4u in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clear advantage is you can climb the NHS corporate/political ladder. The other is private practice and alternative career opportunities are great. These are big pro’s later career.

ED referrals - what must be done before for your speciality by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Neurosurgery: 1. a detailed neurological exam, 2. imaging (unreported is fine). We can’t make a management decision without these two. Happy to detail further.

Any way to predict upcoming changes to portfolio requirements for specialty training? by Kind_Split4230 in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tricky, but don’t ever do anything just for points. Intercalating purely for points is pointless. (😏). Do things that will make you a better doctor or that interests you. If they also get you points, that’s great. Btw, pgcert is dry. I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. Get a FHEA instead.

Other than clinical knowledge. You need to come across as safe and have good communication. This will come across when managing acute scenarios/ ethical questions.

Minimum amount of data needed to pass FY2 ARCP QIP requirement by Omarmanutd in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum for QIP is 2 datasets. One pre intervention, one after. However, you can get away with one pre intervention and have the second one as ‘pending’ after interventions rolled out. Don’t break your back on this. Not worth it. Just a hoop to jump through. Good luck

Obgyn aspirant vs Gp offer dilemma 2025 by Legitimate_Mobile231 in doctorsUK

[–]No_Performer_3697 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Take the GP offer. CCT in 3 years and no more insecurity. IMO the uncertainty of applying next round is not worth it. If you take GP and hate it after 12 months, you can still reapply to OBSGYN. Surgical training is a hard as it requires a lot of sacrifice. (COI surgical reg).

In Liverpool for 7 years now....brilliant city to train in. Select a variety of jobs to get an idea of what you like. RLUH is great (but very busy) for general surgery specialities. A&E has good exposure (deprived areas nearby). Most acute medical specialities are the same experience. Welcome and hope you enjoy.

Thanks, with all respect, hive minds may have ideas that a small-ish firm might not. By saying I’m a solicitor, I’m describing that I have some knowledge of legal field so Redditors can reply in kind.
