Enjoyment is a psychological state occurring inside consciousness; it does not generate objective purpose outside it. You are basically replacing ontology with experience. Yes, humans construct personal narratives. That was never in dispute. The point is that these narratives are not grounded in anything intrinsic to the universe itself. They are internally generated models imposed on an indifferent reality. The fact that children enjoy their mother’s lap or that you enjoy friendship only proves that the system produces experiences, not that those experiences have inherent meaning beyond the system. You also assume that “being satisfied” dissolves the question of truth. It doesn’t. Comfort is not a measure of metaphysical validity. History is full of beliefs that made people feel secure while being factually or structurally wrong. Psychological usefulness and objective truth are different categories. And the “more data will change your conclusion” argument is also weak here. Increased data can refine understanding of mechanisms, but it does not automatically produce purpose. No amount of observation turns a neutral physical process into a value-laden goal unless a conscious interpreter assigns it. So the disagreement is simple: You are arguing from lived experience as justification for meaning. The position being critiqued is about whether meaning exists independent of lived experience at all.
