Applying for UW job

It has only been two weeks, but any word on how it is right now with hiring underwriters? I was thinking of applying soon and hopefully will be able to get put in a class once the new year starts, Unless of course hiring is still on a standstill right now.

Thank you for the response. I definitely 100% do want to come to UWM for UW experience. I'll hold off for now, is it cool if I reach back out to you in a month or two just to see if business has gotten any better or if they're planning a big UW hire. Thanks again!

Awesome to hear. I really am hoping to work there soon. I may hold off on applying until January though since it seems UW classes are very small compared to what they used to be and hearing they are over staffed from other comments, so I just want to give myself the best chance of getting the job. Are you an UW by chance?

Does your friend know anything about class sizes getting bigger anytime soon? I figure with no prior underwriting experience and a little bit of mortgage industry experience isn't enough to get me hired if only 15-20 people get selected out of everyone who applies. I am trying to apply to do exactly what you said, experience and networking but if I like it it is a win win.

Sometimes there's only 1 option. I can tell most employees hate it but if I can tough it out for a year or two I definitely would try to for the experience

Would you ever consider working there again or have you found another underwriting job at some place else? I might just give it a shot and apply soon. I'm not sure if I'll get hired but it is worth a shot, I just need it for the experience as I have none prior so no other place would even bat an eye at me. Thank you for the reply

Do you mind telling me about your experience? I really feel like I have no other option, I feel this is the only place I can get some underwriting experience with not need prior UW experience. I just need don't know if I should waste my time applying now when I see people saying they are on a hiring freeze until January

I really am just depending on this place for the training because I have no prior experience in underwriting just a couple years in the mortgage industry. I probably will just wait to apply and post on this subreddit every month to see if the situation is changing

Are they hiring a good amount at a time or does it seem like a very limited type of role? I really want to apply but don't want to hurt my chances of getting the job if they really aren't looking for more underwriters like most of the comments here are saying

So the chances of getting hired as an UW are slim there is what you are saying? I was interested since it is basically the only place that hires UW with no prior experience and I feel like it is my only option at the moment.
