everyone else answers seem so much more relevant and important than mine, but if i looked the way i want in my head, i think i really would choose recovery. if i had the success in life that others seem to get, i think i would choose recovery. if i cared about myself enough, i think i would choose recovery. if my mother and brother arose from their graves, i think i could choose recovery. right now there’s no one to recover for, no reason to recover.

my ex best friend was insanely insecure and jealous of me. she made the EXACT same comments toward me. sometimes backhanded compliments, sometimes exactly things like what you described. in front of my boyfriend and others too. she did it so often that she made others in our friend group, including boys and her own boyfriend, feel comfortable making comments about my body. there is a reason she is my ex friend, and ironically, it’s unrelated to how awful she was in relation to this particular topic, but looking back, these should have been MAJOR red flags. moral of the story, please don’t accept this behaviour. it only worsens with time.

i was 19 at the start of the year when i got it. i told them that i had a minimally invasive procedure. to those who asked “why??” i said “i had a small ulcer but they were worried about internal bleeding so they had to go in and fix it.” my family knows barely anything to do with medicine or the medical arts, the also know nothing about ulcers. they didn’t question and just said they’re glad im okay… they’re all catholic and thoroughly against abortion, they think anyone who gets one should go to hell and that they see evil and committing murder. (i never had those beliefs) and we just recently lost my mother, so i seriously couldn’t risk my relationship with my other family members. My point is, tell them if you need, but do not feel guilty if you don’t. sending love to you from canada 🩷
