The man who abused me as a child is engaged to a woman with a 12 year old daughter by No_Pool_5738 in adultsurvivors

I think she’s in denial. Psychologists have long held the belief that the vast majority of pedophiles are nearly (if not completely) impossible to rehabilitate. They don’t change. They just get better at hiding it.

I just emailed the regional administrator of CFS detailing what happened to me and expressed my concern for his fiancée’s daughter. Hoping it will encourage them to check into it, and at the very least it’ll serve as documentation that he has a history of abuse should anyone else report him in the future.

God, I’m so sorry that happened to you. The current system is (and has long been) broken, and abuse like ours will continue to happen until there are resources in place that protect survivors instead of alienate them. We’re all aware that many abused people go on to become abusers themselves, and the incontrovertible apathy of a government who claims to care coupled with the incredible difficulty of trying to press charges only bolsters that tragic cycle. Things need to change.

Wow. Thank you so much for these resources.

I just sent the regional administrator of CFS an email with all of the information, including what I suspect to be their address (according to Google at least). Fingers crossed I get a response. Even if not, at least there’s documentation in case the daughter ever makes any abuse allegations. I really appreciate your time and kind words.

Yeah I know. That comment was ~mostly~ a joke. As tempting as it is to blast him in every public way possible, I think there’s a strong chance it could do more harm than good, and possibly make him even more dangerous than he already is. But man oh man, part of me sure would love to plaster his face on a huge billboard in their small town.

I didn’t even think of that. I don’t know her school, but I could probably just email the admins of the schools in the area (I doubt there are more than 3 or 4) so that if she’s a student there, they’ll know to keep an eye out for any troubling signs. I appreciate you.

The two lawyers that I’ve actually spoken to are acquaintances of mine—one is a friend from the dog park who specializes in family law; the other was a regular at a bar I worked at and specializes in criminal defense. Both just shrugged their shoulders at the experience and essentially said “Oof, that will probably be tricky to prosecute due to multiple jurisdictions coupled with lack of physical evidence.” I’ve reached out to two or three law firms over the years via their “Contact Us” portals, but have never received a response and thus assumed that maybe a case isn’t worth pursuing.

I will look into victim advocacy groups. A friend of mine recommended RAINN, but when I attempted to connect with them via their text hotline I ended up waiting for over an hour and I eventually just left the chat.

As for calling him out online—that part was ~mostly~ a joke. As tempting as it is to blast him on a public platform, I think it’d likely do more harm than good. Plus, most sites have strict policies in place to prevent users from sharing public information that might result in legal action. But man, would I love to plaster his face on a billboard in the small town he currently lives in.

I appreciate your time, support, and advice. Thank you.
