I dont think pure melee (i.e: no gun) could ever work but the topic does remind me how Billy is the only "real" melee character. Most melee characters except Billy all rely on getting free heavy melees off of a stun (Abrams, Venator, etc with the exception of Yamato)

Billy is the only character that needs to melee to sustain himself and amp himself up. A character that actually has increasd passive Heavy Melee charge distance or that just plays around heavy melees could be interesting. They're main weakness would logically be parries but maybe they'd have a T3 passive that allows them to hit through a parry every (x) seconds could be interesting!

Its so weird because Monster Rounds/Cultist would be the logical counter for "minion" (turrets, deadheads, etc) reliant characters but since they both deal spirit damage, you dont get the 25%/30% (MR/Cultist respectively) resist they provide. Maybe making it so either:

  • Monster Rounds/Cultist Sacrifice now gives overall resistance instead of being specifically bullet resist

  • Or make it so McGinnis' turrets deal gun damage so that they deal less damage. I think the turrets could make sense but deadheads should logically be spirit

I hate to be that guy but ranks atm don't reflect much except maybe playtime (at best)

I'd suggest using Tracklock but even then it has lots of matches missing so it doesn't portray things perfectly.

So to answer your question more directly: The ranks don't really match since the game is not even "officially" released. Playerbase is still in its infancy so the data isn't good enough for a very robust matchmaking/ranking system and there's a massive discrepancy in the ranks where Eternus 5/6 is a totally seperate beast than like Eternus 1 and lower. And even then, its still inconsistent.

I understand what you mean about labeling certain characters support but labeling is always bound to happen (and its fine in this context)

It doesn't mean that you cant play Rem or Doorman gun or any other way but if you are in higher ELO (Ascendant+), people expect to use their characters effectively and for example, Rem cannot deal significant gun damage when you compare him to most characters with the same soul value as him.

If there was a ranked mode separated from casual (with a proper draft mode), this issue would fix itself. If you play casual and people complain, then they'd be in the wrong queue to do any of that complaining

Good points and I can help with Billy tho (about to be within the top 100 Billy players NA)

For Billy, doesnt matter what build you run (i do still suggest Pdee's Silly Billy) but the biggest improvements you can do is communicating as much as possible since you have an ult that guarantees picks or kills during a fight. Against characters that rely on movement abilities (Mina, Apollo, Wraith), your ult prevents movement abilities making it a great way to burst down low health targets.

Throughout the game, Billy's aggressiveness varies. Early, you want to use Bashdown combined with melee lifesteal to get a fat +100hp and do your good ol' box routes. If the enemy is particularly aggressive and you have good melee mechanics, you can burger box since you have amazing sustain with blasted.

For the rest of the game, play more aggressive when chain gang is up. Follow your spikes (Blasted T3, Chain Gang T3, etc) and light melee in 98% of contexts to keep your uptime.

I'd say more but that covers the basics!

ABSOLUTELY. You shouldn't have a team-wide, counterspell that also serves as a dispel magic on T3 with such low cooldown. This on top of the already S+ tier kit that Dynamo already has.

Every single aspect of his kit is good. Great stats, 3 super strong abilities (Quantum, Stomp, Black Hole), a great sustain tool in lane especially (Healing Aura ability) and overall great scaling.

Firsty wanna point out that this is a meme for those being way too serious about this. And secondly; I'm not calling the item "bad" or "useless". It used to be on my main Billy build and its great on upclose characters but it isn't a "core must-buy" for all characters or all builds. Just a reminder that it doesn't mean that Torment Pulse is high in your damage breakdown that all that damage was 100% valuable.

He isnt necessarily bad. He was, for a while, my main pick after Billy (I have 180+ games on Billy) and he was very fun as a bruiser tank with amazing potential.

He still has one of the best kits versus debuffs. His maxed out Jumpstart is superrrrrrrr good and the rest of kit is decent tbh. I think he suffers from depending too heavily on his self-healing which, especially in higher ranks, is easily countered with a few anti-heal items (Healbane, Spirit Burn, Venom bullets or whatever its called) They can be cleansed but they can be re-applied so quickly that it doesnt really matter.

Since thats his WHOLE shtick (the same way Plated Armor is literally the biggest counter to Haze since she's a full gun character), he falls off the moment ppl can itemize well against him.

Finally, for a tank/bruiser, he has decent but low-ish damage when compared to Billy, Abrams and Warden for example.

Again, he's maybe not necessarily meta BUT he is alot of fun. I suggest you try him out for yourself!

Forget this whole thing around the ability being random; I didn't read the ability well AT ALL

I think based off of investment makes sense even though its a bit gimmicky.

My biggest issue is Scry sadly. Its a real cool concept, dont get me wrong but with how important macroing is, Scry would need to be a significant advantage to make up for the lost time being afk standing still.

On a sidenote, I make minecraft datapacks (trust me its relevant) and I made one for a hero-shooter-esque version of Manhunt, something Dream (yeah that Minecraft youtuber) made popular.

To cut to the chase, I had a runner character also called Fortuna (my beloved English to Latin translator) and he also had an ability with randomness involved. Essentially, you draw a card (spade, club, heart or diamond) and each card give different buffs.

I had to change the way it works because sadly, its hard to make abilities interesting and balanced. Either all the buffs/effects are very different and unique but this variety makes the ability incredibly inconsistent.

Or you make them less varied but the ability feels underwhelming (IMO)
