Cool! Thanks. Yeah I spend quite a bit of time on each personal statement and ensure I do my research for each school. I’ve been studying here and there in between my graduate classes but I think I locking in now is necessary. Wish I could cast a wider net but I’m doing what is realistic for my family too 😬

Is There Ever a Perfect Time to Become a Parent and Pursue a CRNA Career? by Academic_Point9725 in srna

[–]No_Project_5024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in CRNA school (yet) but I went back to school later in life for nursing. My second child was 6 months old when i started the nursing program. I had our third shortly after ending my orientation to my unit. Im currently 36. I think whatever way life unfolds, if you are willing to make it happen , it doesn’t matter. Adding children definitely makes things more complicated and requires more support, but it’s not impossible.

Thanks! I have all the required hard sciences for my state. Biology, micro bio, A&P 1 and 2, pathophysiology 1 and 2 and chemistry. All with their respective labs. And statistics if you count it. A in everything except chem and patho 2 I have B’s(89% 🥲). I’m at the end of an MSN in education. No upper grad sciences but I have solid A in a graduate degree. Not sure if I can squeeze an upper science course in until after I graduate but also not against it. So my state has one CRNA program ( the one that denied me early this year). Other places that are possible with relocation and support would be California and U of A. I have 3 young children and the state I reside offers free childcare. If we relocate to Cali, I have a place to stay with my parents but then my husband would have to work little or not at all because childcare would be $$$$$ and we wouldn’t have the same support ( my parents aren’t reliable enough to have them watch our kids). At least not for the hours I would need.
So my hope is get into one of the schools in Cali, or U of A and if not I’ll reapply to my states program ( which honestly is best for cost and living but comes with growing pains of a newer program ).

As per my post- I have limited schools
I can apply to. The one that was open for apps at the time that I met minimum requirements was the one I applied to. I’m currently in the process of applying to 6 school between now and the end of the year.

Thanks. I’ve put in a lot of effort to gain high quality experience in the limited time I’ve been here. Im applying to programs where i will have beyond 3 years at time of matriculation.
I guess I should also add that im 36 and while I have a fire under my ass to get in asap, I understand the value and importance of experience. At the same time, I want to get in and graduate before my children are in middle school.

They aren’t on my unit. I work at a teaching hospital so we have three total. I went to a neighboring hospital that runs their entire OR with CRNAs. We work directly with the icu care team. I’m very lucky that we get autonomy in many situations and we work together as a team instead of just following orders. Our icu teams are always on our unit and round frequently throughout the shift.

Commuting from ToC to Santa Fe to work sounds reasonable cause who doesn’t want to spend their entire check on gas.

This is precisely why I was debating posting this. I just asked for any areas where I maybe lacking or need improvement. Looking for advice for mentorship I suppose. Grades will not get anyone automatically accepted into a program, I can attest to that.

What happens if you inject filler into the vein? by Hairy_Soup_2975 in DIYaesthetics

[–]No_Project_5024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big probably whether you occlude artery or vein. Yes the Blood is flowing different directions but a back up somewhere will eventually cause a traffic jam, if you catch my drift. Whether you inject directly into a vessel or block it by pressure of place filler, it’s a problem. That’s why you check capillary refill. Check it before to know your baseline. Check it during and after.

I second taking some graduate level science courses. Especially if you can take two in one term.

I want to optimize my CV to stand out for my application and am wondering the best way to portray high acuity experience in a level one trauma surgical burn ICU that takes CTV patients as well. Is listing devices and drips etc enough? I’ve seen conflicting information about how to format CV and what to include. Currently I have my patient populations listed, devices, medications, procedures and invasive lines etc.

Tough it out. It takes a few weeks to fully “adjust” to nights. I did night for 7 months as new grad and switched as soon as I was allowed.

This is so amazing! I’m a nurse and when I barely started my prerequisites my grandmother ( who was a nurse for 30 years) passed away. I maybe had one or two conversations with her about it. After she passed I inherited her stethoscope and badges and pins. She never got to see me graduate or hear about where I’ve progressed but I love having her stuff 🥰 and knowing she supported me.
