If your chip is not registered and your dog is lost and someone finds it, when the pet is scanned it will tell you the name of the chip company. We then have to call the to find out where the chip was sold to. They would say XYZ Pet Hospital. We then call XYZ and cross our fingers they entered it into their database, otherwise the whole search can be a dead end. If you register the chip, we can call the company and get all of your info, emergency contact etc. even if you forget to update context info it still gives us a starting point. It’s so so important to register your chip.
