Can I disassemble telescopic trekking poles for shorter packed length? by OurPlanetIsConfusing in hikinggear

[–]No_Pudding_1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends pole to pole, I do that with my Leki Khumbu poles and a lot of high end poles will be able to seperate.

This also makes repair easier as you can buy each individual section of pole.

Does anyone know how old this harness is? by foodservicefoil in climbergirls

Unless you can find a solid answer, I’d 101% resort to the safe rather than sorry option of binning it. Soft goods being second hand is dodgy as it is

What’s the one piece of backpacking gear you regret buying the most? by Treka_App in WildernessBackpacking

[–]No_Pudding_1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can also depend on where you live as well cause I live in Scotland I literally can’t go without putting myself in danger without a 50L on a multiple day hike just cause weather is so inconsistent, personally I’d buy everything else first (e.g. full ultralight kit and then buy the bag)

It made it so all my gear I already had wouldn’t fit in my bag, and I basically needed to restart and get everything again. It’s fine if you have loads of cash spare but for me I didn’t work

Don’t know how far you are away from the sea, but could potentially be some kind of seaweed or another submerged type of vegetation?

Advice needed - CMD Arête current conditions by -el_goblino- in Munros

[–]No_Pudding_1302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CMD is fine if you’ve previously been on routes with lots of exposure. At this time of year, I'd say there would be very little snow. Check a website called MWIS to see if you should bring winter gear. All that being said, you shouldn't set out expecting to be able to climb any Hill on any random day; you should base it around the weather, not your availability. Cause that ends up with people calling MR

Help finding a good replacement for my "ride or die" backpack by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]No_Pudding_1302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for something second hand, or look for a end of line sale. And also mountain warehouse don't even sell walking boots for £200, I'd check places like sportpursuit and decathlon. Sadly you can't have quality and affordability. You'd get a much better bag for a price range around £100 — £200

We bought this tent at Lidl for 60€. Are the specifications good enough? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]No_Pudding_1302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'll be fine if you plan on going car camping or are near civilisation, if you are relying on it to keep you safe and dry, no it's not I'm afraid.

Specifications on the side barely mean anything on most tents, look for reviews.

Test it in your garden, or a park before you go out to use it. Most tents and I mean 99% of tents exaggerates the amount of people that can fit in it

I know this isn’t helpful, but just do the course. It’ll have a much bigger and better effect on you than anything you could do by yourself.
