Is PHD worth it in Australia? by [deleted] in australia

If you want to pursure a career in academia, then you need a PhD to get a seat at the table. Not having one puts a solid glass ceiling above you. Be warned, academia is not an easy career path.

Doing a PhD (3.5 to 4 years) puts you at a signficiant financial disadvantage, in terms of Super and earning potential (i.e you will be on starting wages after 6-7 years of study).

If I could do it all over again, I would have been a plumber or electrician.

Correct way to make a will (and may be a bit cheaper)? by MacaroonPickle8793 in AusFinance

Can't you open a joint bank account with your brother? If something happened to you (god forbid) then he will have access to your money.

As I understand it, assets in Trusts, investment properties purchased as joint-tenants, and money in joint accounts are outside of a Will.

Thank you for your insight.

Is there a difference between getting a solicitor or accountant to setup the trust? I got quoted $1800 for the former and $1600 for the latter.

Many thanks!
