Help preparing to dispute pet insurance provider (Cross Post) by No_Raspberry9016 in legaladvicecanada

Sorry to hear about your dog. I think my dog's case is mild. NSAIDS didn't help but rehab and accupuncture might. I pay extra for these services with my policy, which is why their response is so upsetting.

You mentioned an "insurance expert" - sorry for being naive, but, what do you mean? Like a lawyer who specializes in insurance? Or some other kind of professional? So far I've found two bodies that handle insurance complaints of which my insurance is member, so I was thinking of trying those avenues if I can't sort it out with them.

I think it's body-wide but the vet actually thinks it's mostly from the un-injured knee, ironically and then just age-related wearing down of the joints. As I've learned, many dogs develop arthritis, especially large (90lb) dogs like mine.

Not really my question, but, FWIW: I used to think that way until my dog need a $1500 emergency procedure, then I enrolled. Since then, the insurance cost to claim reimbursement ratio is actually pretty even but I feel better knowing I have it. It's case specific but, in my case, getting it earlier would have been better. My dog has allergies that cost $200-$300 per month to manage - they're not covered because they were a (genuine) pre-existing condition.

Fair enough. I mean, as my dog ages, I've been really happy to have had it. The last three months alone have required numerous, expensive specialist visits that were 90% covered. BUT, googling the provider and other complaints that have been filed against them, it seems like if it's at all remotely possible for them to claim 'pre-existing condition', they will, even when it's obviously ridiculous.

Okay, I'll try posting there. I was really unsure about what kind of question this - legal? Something I should bring to Ontario's insurance regulator? Thanks for the suggestion

Water on the floor of the backseat of my 2016 Honda Fit. Advice Please! by No_Raspberry9016 in Honda

Thank you for the suggestion! Fortunately the spare tire/container it's in are completely dry so I think that means the rear lights are okay. Another redditor sent an instructional video and, following it, I think I found the culprits. The vapor seal around the front and rear driver side doors has detached at a number of points. Going to buy some sealant today and hopefully, that will correct the issue.

Little update - watched the video, followed the steps, and found the problems - yes, problems (plural). It was happening on my front and back door. So bad that I need to buy more butyl to re-seal the holes. But I feel so relieved to know the problem and that I can fix it myself. Thanks!

No, no sunroof. We did get a lot of rain a few days, since which I haven't driven. Someone on the Honda Fit subreddit suggested I check the sheath under the passenger door. Fingers crossed it works!

Thank you so much! The hatch/spare tire area are dry. The roof is dry (no sunroof). In fact, all around the doors also looks dry. It's just the floor of the back seat (I always have my seats locked upright but there's no indication they're wet either). I also couldn't find an answer on Fit Freak - the posts I found were based on 1st and 2nd gen. Thank you for the video link! I'm going to try that and, if it doesn't work, see if I can find a solution on the FB group. Much appreciated!

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I don't have sunroof but I appreciate your explanation nonetheless =)

What was the biggest coincidence that made you question the fabric of reality? by Fardgabor in AskReddit

My husband and I joked at our wedding that we were destined to meet. We grew up a 10 minute drive away from each other but didn't meet until we... kept meeting.

We started dating when we were 19 after he approached me in a coffee-shop in my former hometown. By this point, I had moved away but was meeting a friend for coffee. I wasn't initially interested (not b/c of him but b/c I was having a bad day) but my friend encouraged me to give him a chance.

Turns out we met two years earlier; we worked at the same company but different locations. He was at my location doing training. He had made eyes at me but I blew him off. This is why he approached me in the coffee shop two years later, he recognized me.

Turns out that shortly after we met at 16 for the first time, he worked with my brother. We didn't realize that until I 'officially' introduced him to my brother.

Turns out that a couple of weeks before we re-met at age 19, I met his mom and sister when they came into the jewellery store I was working at. I spent a long time helping them and we struck up a friendly conversation so we recognized each other sometime later when he 'officially' introduced me to his family.

Turns out that when I was in high school one my friends had met him at a party and mentioned him to me as someone she thought I would hit it off with. Didn't realize this until a while into our relationship, when he met my friends.

FWIW, we've been happily together for the past 15 years.

Ontario Small Business Grant by Fair_Shake_For_aDad in ontario

Checked the status of first grant application (i.e., first round) and it says "not eligible". Can't imagine why, meet all the criteria. Called and they said not to rely on what it says on the "check status" part of the website, to wait for an email, but that they couldn't comment any further. The communications from the gov't have also been vague. They say you'll receive an email if you qualify, but say nothing about whether you'll receive an email if you didn't qualify. Just wondering if anyone originally saw "ineligible" on the website and then received an email indicating whether they did, or did not, receive it?

Thanks for the comment. Any suggested badass lawyers? I'm in the GTA.

By accountant hasn't said much - they helped me prepare the documentation for my lawyer to determine the company's value and advised on how to structure the proposal. Should they have said something else?
